I Became a Member of My Favorite Group! - Chapter 61
I Came to Visit Ra-hee’s House! When we arrived at Ra-hee’s house it had reached the evening. I was worried that it might be too late for a first visit, but Ra-hee assured me that her family doesn’t mind such things at all and practically dragged me along.
“Huh…!”
When we finally arrived in front of Ra-hee’s house, I gasped and stared blankly at the sight before me.
‘What on earth is this?’
Outside there was a massive iron gate that looked at least four times my size, beyond it stood a building that looked more like a mansion or a castle than a house. Is this really Ra-hee’s house? I had heard her family was well-off, but this isn’t just well-off—this is chaebol1-level wealth.
Clang—
Just as I was wondering if I should even be entering such a place, the heavy iron gate slid open with a low rumble. Standing on the other side was a man who looked at least 2 meters tall with an imposing build.
Gasp!
He even had a scar on his face! I know it’s wrong to judge people by their appearance, but… he’s scary! Terrifying! I hid behind Ra-hee, intimidated by his expressionless gaze. But at that moment, the man bent at a 90-degree angle.
“Welcome back, Miss!”
His greeting was so formal and booming, it felt like something out of a yakuza movie. For a moment, I wondered if Ra-hee’s family was involved in something like that.
“…It’s fine, but could you please greet my friends normally? People might think we’re some kind of gang family.”
“Ah, my apologies. It’s just become a habit…”
Listening to Ra-hee’s complaints, it seemed that wasn’t the case. Still, it was fascinating. This intimidating-looking man was now awkwardly fumbling and looking embarrassed. It felt like seeing a rough-looking but gentle bear.
“Anyway, just greet her properly. You know the group I debuted in, right? This is the youngest member, my close friend. Her name is Da-jeong.”
“Ah, hello… My name is Jeong Da-jeong.”
Despite Ra-hee’s introduction, I was still intimidated and greeted him timidly.
“I see! It’s an honor to meet you. My name is Choi Jin-seok. I’ve been in charge of the security team for the Miss’s family for 11 years. Please take care of me.”
So, he was a bodyguard. Does that mean Ra-hee’s family is so important that they have bodyguards at home? It felt even more impressive now.
“We’ll head in now.”
“Yes, Miss. I hope you have a pleasant time, Miss’s friend.”
“Th-thank you…”
After receiving an overly polite greeting, we walked through the stone path in the garden and arrived at the mansion.
Ding-dong—
“I’m home.”
“Ra-hee, is that you? Wait a moment.”
Before I could even marvel at the fact that the mansion had its own doorbell, the door swung open as soon as a voice came through the intercom.
“Yes, I’m back… Oh?”
A woman who appeared to be in her early 30s came into view. Was she Ra-hee’s older sister? Wait, I heard Ra-hee only has a younger sister. So who is this?
“Ah, hello… Are you Ra-hee’s older sister?”
“Oh my, calling me an older sister? I’m not that old… but I’m flattered.”
‘Huh? She’s not her older sister?’
I tilted my head in confusion as the woman placed a hand on her cheek, looking delighted. Then, I heard Ra-hee sigh softly beside me before stepping in to explain.
“She’s not my sister, she’s our mom. She looks young, so people often get confused.”
“Whaaat?! Y-your mom?!”
Caught off guard by the unexpected twist, I blurted out in shock, forgetting for a moment that I was in front of the person herself. Wait, if Ra-hee is in her 20s, her mom must be at least in her early to mid-40s. But she looks like she’s in her early 30s at most! If I exaggerated a bit, I’d think she was the same age as our CEO, she’s really tall too. Ra-hee is already the tallest among our members, but her mom seems almost as tall. She might even be as tall as Jia.
“Yes, I’m Ra-hee’s mom. You’re Da-jeong, right? I’ve heard about you from Ra-hee. My daughter has been relying on you a lot.”
“Ah, no, it’s me who’s been relying on her… I’m sorry for coming so late today.”
Since she already knew my name, I quickly bowed and apologized. It was already past 7 PM, and no matter how I thought about it, I felt like an unwelcome guest.
“Da-jeong, let’s go inside and talk. Mom, where’s Dad and Si-eun?”
“Dad went out for an urgent matter, and only Si-eun is here. She seems really excited, that kid.”
“…Why is she excited to meet my friend?”
Si-eun? So that must be Ra-hee’s younger sister’s name.
But I’m curious too. Why is Ra-hee’s younger sister looking forward to meeting me?
“Anyway, Da-jeong, come on in.”
“Th-thank you…”
With my curiosity piqued, I followed the two inside. The mansion felt even bigger from the inside.
Wow…
The ceiling is so high. I’d need at least five of me stacked up to even reach it. Or maybe even that wouldn’t be enough. As I was trying to gauge the height, I heard footsteps.
They came from the staircase leading to the second floor on the left side of the living room. Turning my head, I saw a woman descending the stairs, looking a bit disheveled. Had she been taking a nap?
“Yawn… Mom, when is Lulu-chan… Huh?!”
Then when our eyes met, she suddenly froze in place.
Huh?
Did I hear wrong? Did she just say Lulu-chan…?
“Lulu-chan?! You’re Lulu-chan, right?!”
“Huh? Ah, yes, I am Lulu, but…”
Then, with a flushed face, she suddenly shouted and ran over to hug me tightly… Huh?
“Lulu-chaaaan!”
“Ugh?!”
Before I could even process what was happening, I was engulfed in her arms. She was even taller than Ra-hee, and I could barely breathe.
Gasp!
Someone, save me! At least Ra-hee isn’t that strong, but this person feels like she could crush me any second.
“Si-eun! Let go! What are you doing to our youngest?!”
“B-but Lulu-chan is right in front of me! How can I resist?!”
“I get it, so just let go! You’re going to suffocate her!”
“Oops.”
At Ra-hee’s urging, she finally realized I couldn’t breathe and let go, giving me an awkward smile.
“Sigh… Da-jeong, I’m sorry. My sister is a huge fan of yours.”
“Sh-she’s my fan?”
I never expected to meet a fan in a place like this. Does that mean Ra-hee’s younger sister watches our content often?
“Yeah, since we’re here, let’s introduce ourselves properly. This is Si-eun, my younger sister by a year. And you already know, but this is Da-jeong, the youngest in our group.”
“Hello! I’m Si-eun. I’m such a big fan, and I’ve been wanting to meet you. I’m so happy to see you like this!”
“I-I’m Jeong Da-jeong… Thank you for liking me.”
She’s such a lively person. Ra-hee unnie is energetic when she’s in high spirits, but usually, she has a calm demeanor. This one, on the other hand, seems like the type who’s always lively. It feels like the “sporty type” you’d see in subculture. And she’s really tall. Even taller than Ra-hee unnie. She might be the tallest woman I’ve ever met, probably reaching close to 180cm.
“Anyway, I’m going up to my room with Da-jeong, so don’t come in.”
“Wow, you’re so mean, unnie. Do you know how much I’ve been looking forward to seeing Lulu-chan today?!”
“Not my problem.”
Unnie feels a bit colder at home. Or maybe she’s just being prickly because it’s her younger sister. It’s kind of refreshing.
“Ra-hee, did you eat dinner? Should I prepare something for you?”
“Yeah, I already ate. We’ll grab a snack later if we need it.”
“Alright, make yourself at home. Da-jeong, feel free to relax and have fun here.”
“Thank you. Oh, and you don’t have to speak formally to me…”
“Oh my, so I can speak casually? Thank you.”
The lady, smiling with her hand over her mouth, gave off the vibe of a noblewoman from an aristocratic family. I guess this is what they mean when they say someone exudes grace.
“Ah! I want to play with Lulu-chan too! Let me play with Lulu-chan!”
Meanwhile, this one shows no signs of calming down. She’s lying on the sofa, throwing a tantrum like a child. I held onto Ra-hee unnie’s arm and cautiously made a request.
“Ra-hee unnie, Si-eun unnie said she wants to play with us too… Wouldn’t it be better to include her?”
“Gasp! Lulu-chan called me ‘unnie’! I could die happy now…”
“Y-you can’t die…!”
Where in the world is there someone who feels like they’ve fulfilled their life’s purpose just by being called “unnie”?! I frantically shook Si-eun unnie, who was lying on the sofa with her hands neatly folded on her chest like a corpse in a coffin.
“Hmm… Or Da-jeong, how about this?”
“Huh? What is it?”
Meanwhile, Ra-hee unnie seemed to have been pondering something on her own. She suddenly snapped her fingers as if she had a good idea and spoke up.
“Let’s do a guerrilla broadcast.”
“A guerrilla broadcast…?”
I was a bit taken aback by the unexpected suggestion. After all, today was supposed to be just the two of us hanging out without any broadcast plans.
“Yeah, she’s going to die of happiness just watching your stream anyway. I already tweeted that we met up, so if we do a surprise collab stream now, wouldn’t the fans love it?”
“Y-yeah, that’s true.”
Of course, fans were happy during the offline collab stream with Chae-yoon unnie too but there’s a different kind of joy in unexpected surprises compared to planned ones. For fans who were disappointed that today was a break, seeing two VTubers together on one screen would be a huge delight.
“And we’ve got the perfect survey subject right here, so we can ask her what she thinks.”
“Ah, um, about that…”
Ra-hee unnie pointed at Si-eun unnie lying on the sofa, acting like it was a great idea, but from my perspective, it seemed unlikely. Because…
“…Si-eun unnie isn’t breathing.”
Ever since the guerrilla broadcast idea came up, Si-eun unnie had stopped breathing and seemed to have peacefully passed out.
“She must’ve died of happiness hearing Lulu-chan is doing a guerrilla broadcast. Let’s leave her and go up to my room.”
“Okay…”
In the end we left Si-eun unnie, who had turned into a corpse, behind and went up to Ra-hee unnie’s room on the second floor to prepare for the guerrilla broadcast.
I’m a bit nervous about whether people will watch since it’s an unplanned stream, and what kind of content we should do, but…
Still, I can’t help but feel excited about doing a collab stream with one of my favorite people.
Hehe.
I guess I’m a fan through and through.
