I Can See a VTuber’s Red Pills - Chapter 4
I decided to watch a VTuber stream today.
Once the decision was made, proper prep and research naturally had to follow.
So then, what is a VTuber?
There’s a lot of noise about how it’s someone who uses special equipment to stream with a 3D or 2D avatar… but to put it simply, it’s someone who streams using a virtual character.
They existed even before I enlisted in the army, but I didn’t have the luxury to care back then—didn’t even watch regular livestreams, let alone VTubers.
That’s why this would be my first time ever watching a VTuber stream.
So.
“…Who am I supposed to watch?”
I skimmed through the gallery, then opened up Ggizzik to check out the options.
These days, it really was the golden age of VTubers—there were a ton of VTuber streams.
Naturally, I got hit with choice paralysis.
Who should I watch?
Which VTuber would help me satisfy my curiosity?
The gallery had the answer.
– Anyway those V-Taku sh*theads deserve to be torn apart lol
– Those simp losers for V-Stars are back at it again, f*cking bombing us
– Those pig girls are insanely overrated, big upvote for truth
– Redpilled take on A from V-Stars lol
– The chick all the V-Taku are simping for looks like a foot lmfao
It had barely been an hour since a fight broke out in the gallery, but already the top posts were swarming with reactions.
I scrolled through, gathering intel one piece at a time.
- The most famous VTuber group on Ggizzik is called V-Stars.
- V-Stars currently consists of 3 generations, with a total of 12 members—it’s a large group.
- For reasons I couldn’t yet determine, users from Ggizzik Gallery and V-Stars Gallery (nicknamed B-Star Gallery) have terrible relations.
- Ggizzik Gallery users seem to target the V-Stars members and their fans in particular.
Even with the info I gathered, I still couldn’t make sense of it.
Why were they such enemies? Why were all the consequences falling on the V-Stars streamers?
No matter how I thought about it, my smooth little brain couldn’t figure it out.
For now, I figured I just had to see it for myself.
At that moment, a stream titled “Hachimitsu Leona”, one of the second-gen members of V-Stars I’d seen mentioned in the gallery and wiki, popped up on Ggizzik’s main page.
Without thinking too hard, driven purely by curiosity, I clicked into the stream.
[“So seriously! Yesterday, Mone actually said to me…”]
As soon as I entered, a cute girl voice came through, and an adorable character was smiling on screen.
But I couldn’t focus on that at all.
Because what I saw… was something I hadn’t seen since my crypto days.
“…Huh?”
The face of a completely plain, makeup-free woman appeared before me.
My brain froze for a moment.
I glanced over at my monitor again.
[“So I finally gave Mone a proper scolding for once! Ehem!”]
Exactly as the avatar on screen said those words, the ordinary woman next to her said the same thing.
“…?”
It seemed I’d just found a brand-new use for my ‘eyes’—after a whole year.
Back to the question: what is a VTuber?
Again, it’s someone who uses a virtual character to act as themselves on stream.
Some add roleplay (RP), like pretending they’re a demon king or elf from another world.
Others just use a character while acting like a regular person.
But there’s one trait all VTubers share.
They hide their real faces.
Unlike regular streamers who use a webcam, VTubers use facial-tracking tech to let their avatar mimic their expressions.
These days, it looks pretty natural.
So then… what I was seeing now—was it a VTuber? Or was it a person?
[“Ah, look at the time! Okay, let’s switch to the game~”]
A cute avatar and a cute voice.
So that’s a VTuber, right?
But right next to it—on a layer only visible to me—was the VTuber’s real face.
Nothing special.
Not ugly, but not stunning either.
Just average.
Sure, she wasn’t wearing makeup, so maybe she’d score higher with some effort.
But that wasn’t the point.
The point was that my ‘eyes’ had unlocked a brand-new feature.
“……”
I closed the stream.
I needed time to think.
So the original reason was to figure out why people hated VTubers?
Screw that. That didn’t matter anymore.
Now the real question was—what could I do with this new feature?
– Thump thump!
Just like when I first saw the future of coins—no, maybe not quite that intense—but my heart raced.
It felt like I’d found a new toy.
A new goal in life.
Ever since I quit crypto, nothing had really made my heart race.
Spending money? It was fun, sure—but it didn’t make my blood pump.
But this?
This was it.
The path forward.
My next undiscovered continent.
“Okay… okay, calm down.”
I needed to chill out. I was getting way too hyped.
Let’s eat first. I’ll think it over with food.
After eating, I sat back down in front of the computer.
Then for the next few hours, I repeated the same task.
[“Ahhh! Seriously…”]
“Hmm. Rejected.”
I entered every VTuber stream I could find.
Checked them all out.
Updated my personal tier list.
I wasn’t judging on voice, RP, or avatar quality like a normal VTuber viewer would.
No, I had only one criterion:
Their real face.
Among VTuber fans, it’s considered rude to wonder about the person behind the screen—the “red pill,” the real self.
But I didn’t come here as a fan.
I came here out of curiosity.
But that curiosity had now evolved.
All I needed now was a red pill list.
“Hmm… the third one’s still the best so far.”
Didn’t matter how big their audience was.
I was checking every VTuber I could, evaluating their red pills, and building my own tier chart.
D to S.
So far, not a single one had reached S-tier.
In fact, only two had even made it to A.
Makes sense.
If you’re confident in your looks, you’d be doing face cam, not hiding behind an avatar.
People can claim otherwise, but the world absolutely runs on lookism.
If you’re attractive, life opens more doors—period.
So of course, pretty people want to show their faces.
You can coast through life on your face alone in this world.
So why would someone with top-tier looks choose to hide behind a VTuber model?
Finding someone like that… was like looking for a needle in a desert.
“Nngh… maybe I’ll call it a day here.”
Maybe I overdid it the moment I discovered this new ‘eye’ feature.
My body felt sore.
If this were still my crypto grind days, I’d have no problem.
But it’d been over a week since I stopped.
It felt like returning to the gym after goofing off for a week.
I decided to check just three more streams before picking it back up tomorrow.
Then, the moment I clicked into the next stream—
“…Found her.”
I’d finally found a VTuber worthy of the S-tier.
― Zelnaga has joined the stream!
[“Oh! Hello, Zelnaga! First time seeing you. Hehe, nice to meet you~”]
I didn’t react at all when the streamer greeted me by name.
I’d been through enough streams to know that smaller channels had join alerts.
This one clearly had it on too.
But I had no time to respond.
I was completely fixated on what only I could see—her real face.
Neatly brushed, long black hair, gently draped over one side.
I hadn’t met her in person, so I couldn’t be 100% sure, but it looked like a fist-sized face with perfectly symmetrical features.
Huge, sparkling eyes that seemed to glimmer like stars.
She looked elegant.
Like an actress, not an idol.
Why was someone like her doing VTubing? I had no idea.
But there was only one thing to do.
― Zelnaga has donated 10,000,000 Butter!
[Woooo~ finally found my main base, she’s freakin’ delicious lol, I’m making this my HQ now kekekeke]
I used the lingo I’d picked up from Ggizzik Gallery to make my donation pop with style.
And then—
[“…Huh?”]
My first main base was stunned.
