I Can See a VTuber’s Red Pills - Chapter 12

At first, I wondered if I’d said something wrong.

Then, thinking it over, I realized the problem was what I had said.

“Ah, no no! That’s not what I meant at all!”

“………”

I waved both hands frantically to deny it, but Yoo Jungyeon’s expression didn’t budge.

This situation could only be described in one word: f**ked.

The world we live in now… it’s a world where a man can get dragged to the police station just for glancing at a woman.

And in that world, I’d basically said something that bordered on sexual harassment—unintentionally, but still.

“I swear, it wasn’t like that! It’s just—Busan is really far! I was thinking of you, Jungyeon!

My place has a lot of rooms, so… seriously, I didn’t mean anything weird! Not at all!”

“Pffft.”

Still, maybe because I kept frantically explaining myself, she finally seemed to understand just how panicked I was.

Bit by bit, her expression softened, and a puff of air escaped her lips.

“Okay, okay. That’s enough excuses. I get it now.”

“Whew… I really don’t say things like that to women I just met. Seriously.”

“Hmm… Women you just met? So if you’ve seen them a few times, then…”

“No, that’s not what I meant!”

“Heehee!”

Hearing Yoo Jungyeon laugh like that made it clear she was joking.

Back in the café, she’d been stiff with nerves.

But after being told she’d been accepted, her mood seemed to lighten, and now she was even teasing me.

Was this the real Yoo Jungyeon?

“But, well… I appreciate the offer.

Still, we just met for the first time yesterday.

Staying over at your place would be… a little much, don’t you think?”

“I get it. I just realized that was my bad, too.”

“Exactly. Heehee. I’m fine though—see you tomorrow!”

“Right. Oh, and if you have any questions, feel free to text or call me. Anytime’s fine—except really late at night.”

“Got it! But isn’t that backwards? Shouldn’t the boss be the one asking the secretary questions?”

“Uh… is that how it works?”

“Pffft. What kind of logic is that! Okay, I really have to go now! If I’m any later, I might miss the next train!”

“Right, just let me know before you come tomorrow.

Or, no—maybe I should just give you a three-day window instead?”

“It’s fine! I’ll see you tomorrow!”

I watched her run off, waving as she went, and then I walked home.

Somehow… this felt different.

Like my everyday life was about to seriously change.

The next day.

– Ajung: The computer is so nice!

– Ajung: I honestly don’t know if I deserve this

– Ajung: No matter how many times I say it, it’s not enough

– Ajung: Thank you so, so much!

“Hehehe…”

I’d just woken up, and as usual, I had a message from Ajung.

That was the day I’d told her I’d send a new PC—she’d given me her chat ID herself.

Of course, that didn’t mean I had her address.

I sent it to a delivery proxy, and she gave me her ID in case anything went wrong in the middle.

That said, we weren’t chatting privately or anything.

I’d simply asked if she received it, and she thanked me. That was all.

But every day, after finishing her stream, Ajung would send me a message saying how grateful she was.

That sweet and genuine heart of hers was adorable.

“Okay. Still some time before Jungyeon gets here…”

Time to get back to today’s tasks.

[Ggizzik VTuber Gallery]

– Ajung’s kinda cute these days lol

– She got a new PC and she’s so hyped lol

– Ajung’s Excited Moment.gif

– God, the gallery is so spammed with this Ajung stuff lately, it’s annoying as hell

– Zelnaga, you f***ing bastard, get in here

– Looking to kill that Zelnaga bastard 1/99

As usual, the community was chaotic.

Ajung’s presence had gradually grown to the point where, to put it crudely, she’d basically become the ‘gallery queen.’

Though that didn’t mean she’d surpassed me.

They were still obsessed with me.

Normally I’d drop a bomb or two in a situation like this, but today I didn’t have time.

Jungyeon would be here soon.

The housekeeper already came by this morning, but still—I had a guest coming, so I wanted to double-check everything.

I got up and did a sweep starting from the living room.

Checked the bathroom, the empty dressing room.

Then I stepped into the room I’d assigned to Jungyeon.

“Hmm. Looks good.”

I’d set up everything she’d need—PC, essentials—for when she started.

I doubted it was possible to prep all this in one day, but with money, everything is possible.

– Ding-dong.

Perfect timing. The doorbell rang.

When I checked the intercom, there was Jungyeon, awkwardly glancing around.

I buzzed her in and waited. Soon, the front doorbell rang again.

– Click.

“You’re here?”

“Ah, h-hello…”

“…? Something wrong?”

“Huh? N-No! I-I mean… may I come in…?”

Yes, come in.

I stepped aside to let her in.

Jungyeon cautiously entered and stood there, frozen, staring around the house.

“What’s up?”

“…Ah. S-Sorry!”

What was with her?

We’d said goodbye yesterday with things feeling a lot less awkward.

Now it felt like we were back to square one.

“Water? Coffee?”

“…W-Water’s fine!”

I led her into the living room and brought her a glass of water.

She clutched the cup and drank it all in one go.

“So. What’s with you all of a sudden?”

“H-Huh?”

“I mean, why are you so tense all of a sudden?

The interview’s over, but you’re even more nervous now than during it.”

“………”

Jungyeon fidgeted at my words.

After a moment, she finally confessed.

“I-I didn’t really notice yesterday, but… it’s my first time coming to a place like this, so I’m a little… nervous, I guess… ahaha…”

“…Aha?”

“When I got to the address, the security guard out front gave me this terrifying look…

There were fancy cars everywhere…

And then I walked inside and this isn’t a house—it’s practically a palace…

Why is the ceiling so high…?”

Ah.

So it wasn’t that she was nervous about being in a guy’s house—it was this.

If she’d never had contact with this kind of life before, I guess it’d feel overwhelming.

“Relax. You’ll be coming here every day from now on.”

“…Okay.”

Finally, she started to calm down a bit.

We sat on the living room couch and started discussing logistics.

“You brought quite a bit of luggage?”

“Ah, yes! I figured I can’t commute from Busan every day, even with the KTX!”

“What are you going to do about housing?”

“About that… I’m really sorry, but would it be okay to leave my things here for now…?”

She asked hesitantly, and I tilted my head.

“Your stuff? Why?”

“Well… I wasn’t thinking straight. I just packed everything and came up…

But I don’t have a place to stay yet, so I thought maybe I could leave my things here and live in a sauna for a bit until I find a place…”

“…”

Was this the boldness of a new grad?

Her impulsive plan left me speechless.

“I-It’s a bit far out, but I’ve saved up enough to get a place in the outer parts of Seoul! Really!”

She must’ve seen my silent stare and rushed to defend herself.

I looked at her and made her an offer she wouldn’t be able to refuse.

“I mean, ideally, it’d be easier for both of us if you just stayed here.

But I figured that’d make you uncomfortable.”

“T-That’s…”

“I get it. We’ve only met twice now, and it’d be weird living under the same roof.

So here’s what I propose.”

Gulp.

Jungyeon looked tense, wondering what I was going to say.

“There are two empty units downstairs. They’re both under my name, and no one’s living in them right now.

Why don’t you stay in one of those? I won’t charge you rent.

It’s just that… I need you nearby in case I need something, and it’d be inconvenient for me if you weren’t.”

I’d bought out the entire floor just in case of potential noise issues—not that I expected any.

And it was clearly stated in the job listing that room and board could be provided.

And with that, Yoo Jungyeon said—

“…I love you, boss!”

“We’ve only met twice—maybe save the love confession for later…”

“That’s not what I meant!”

Of course, I hadn’t accepted her confession yet.
