Streamer Crazy About Slaughter - Chapter 74
***
Seirin, having sucked on the straw from the apple juice pack, quickly read through the phrases written in the notepad displayed on the screen one by one.
– Check the video quality and completeness.
– The video length should be between 5 to 10 minutes.
– If you feel the flow is interrupted while watching the video, move on to the next video without hesitation.
……
This was a collection of notes Seirin had made during their collaboration, worried she might forget the various pieces of advice Sua had shared.
“Honestly, there’s really nothing easy about anything…”
She mumbled this while thoroughly checking everything written in the notepad.
About an hour had passed since they started collaborating, and I noticed that Sua appeared different to me now.
‘What does Sua know that makes her so knowledgeable?’
She kept providing information on everything from the trends of NewTube to knowledge about editors, and what points are crucial when watching videos.
I couldn’t help but wonder if the Sua on the screen was really the Sua I knew.
– “There will definitely be some well-known editors who will apply since the rumors have spread. It’s a bit concerning that the time frame is short, but still, for someone like Lin…”
Even the way she cautiously continued her speech felt fresh.
With her wavy long brown hair and the distinct impression of a haughty cat, the graceful college student I had seen in reality was nowhere to be found, replaced by a woman who resembled a celebrity.
I had thought someone with Sua’s looks and gaming skills might not take things too seriously, but the appearance on the screen was meticulous.
Whether it was her streaming or her thorough personal management from makeup to running her NewTube channel, it made me genuinely admire her.
When she had come to help set up the stream earlier, I had thought of her as decisive and straightforward, but I was reminded once more of how knowledgeable she was as I got to know her better.
And perhaps because she spoke so well while explaining things to me and the viewers, the more we conversed, the more Sua’s words resonated in my ears like whispers.
It felt as if I was receiving specialized training from a famous instructor.
[Looks like I might prepare for editing while watching the broadcast, haha]
[Wow… Big corporate NewTubers are really different]
[There’s definitely a reason why big companies are big]
[I thought Plea only did Another World until now, haha]
[Plea looks really different today, for real]
[If there are editors, today’s Plea broadcast will definitely be great]
[Plea is genuinely serious about Another World, it’s subtly showing that she’s smart]
[Well, even if other streamers try, Plea clearly knows how to set boundaries]
– “Are there any further questions, Lin?”
“…No. I think you’ve told me everything I need to know. Thank you so much. Plea, if there’s anything I can help with in the future, please let me know without hesitation. I will assist as much as I can.”
I felt the urge to do something for Sua too. After all, she had willingly accepted my sudden request today.
Be it streaming or NewTube, there was something to learn from Sua in every aspect. I considered myself fortunate that she had a favorable impression of me, especially given my currently weak—no, practically nonexistent—human relationships.
Human relationships are ultimately a continuous process of giving and receiving, so I felt I shouldn’t just take.
– “Oh! Lin!? Was that a promise? You can’t say later that you never said that!”
“Yeah. Don’t worry. Plus, there are currently 20,000 viewers watching, do you think I would make false statements?”
– “Wow!! Plea fans, I just hit the jackpot. Lin said she would listen to all my words!”
Sua, saying this while smiling brightly on screen, caused Seirin to grin unconsciously as she watched.
“Then, Plea? I’ll check emails related to editing now. And to the viewers… Since everyone must have come to see Plea, I feel a bit bad for taking up that time with my collaboration. Next time, I’ll let Plea know sooner to avoid such sudden situations.”
I thought I should allow some flexibility in my schedule going forward and realized I needed to be more thoughtful when asking Sua for anything.
I had asked for help urgently, but the more I got to know Sua, the more I realized she was not the type of person to treat casually.
– “Ah, really, Lin, you’re too humble. More viewers than usual have watched my broadcast today, you know? Among them, there are surely many who entered just to hear your voice.”
[We came to hear Lin’s voice, haha]
[Oh, got caught]
[Why does Plea seem so fake today? She’s not usually this kind]
[It definitely feels very different from other collaborations I’ve seen?]
[But this Plea looks really nice, haha]
[I just think she’s talking nicely because Lin is here. Plea’s favoritism for Lin has been showing]
[Haha, she’s pushing it again]
[Favoritism? What do you mean? Haha]
[Hmm…]
[Plea looks like she’d be really good at educational broadcasts, right?]
[Did you not see when Plea did the Another World educational broadcast? Haha]
Checking the chat revealed a plethora of comments, but I concluded with my parting statement.
“Then, Plea, I’m going to head out now. Thank you very much for today.”
– “Yes, go ahead!”
Afterward, I completely logged out of the voice chat program, Bardcode.
Click.
With the notification of the disconnection, I slowly leaned back in my chair.
I closed my eyes for a moment, surrendering my body to the soft backrest of the chair that enveloped me.
“Phew.”
I took some time to reflect on the day.
After getting up, washing, preparing for the broadcast, checking the community, and after the personal broadcast, eating dinner, and again collaborating with Sua.
It had been a day packed with continuous activities.
And now, having concluded that, I still had one more task left.
Checking the emails that had come to the business email address posted on the channel.
I vaguely thought there might be quite a few emails, too.
Sua’s words about being humble suddenly came to mind, but I had a rough sense of where I stood.
The goose that lays golden eggs.
No, saying that might be a bit strange, but right now, I felt like that goose.
With the community and NewTube buzzing with topics related to me for days, I knew that I would not fail or crash my upcoming channel.
And that would surely lead to a significant profit.
Even if I didn’t have the 2.7 billion in my bank account, I could easily imagine making enough money to lead a quite comfortable life in the future.
“When it comes to money, people become genuine like nothing else…”
Thus, it was clear that not just one or two people would apply for the editor position.
Click clack.
– [email protected]
An email address created with the Twitter ID nickname.
Logging in, I checked how many emails I had received.
– Inbox 412.
“Ha.”
Seeing the number 412, I couldn’t help but let out a hollow laugh.
I wondered when I would get through all those emails, then I was struck by a thought.
“Surely… all of those can’t be editor applications.”
Though I had clearly written in my channel address that it was a business email, I thought there would definitely be people trying to cause a stir.
Glancing through the email subjects, just as I expected, there were many odd ones.
– “I love you, Lin!!!”
– “This is my editor application portfolio.”
– “Could you please reveal your cam, Lin? Or even just send a photo via email…?”
– “I’m a real fan after watching your NewTube video, so…”
– “This is my editor application mail! It’s my first time, but I’m confident I can do it…”
– “I’m a streamer x*x*x. I’m really sorry to ask this, but could you think about collaborating…?”
Numerous emails were filled with strange intentions mixed in among the editor applications.
I registered those that clearly weren’t applications or had alarming subjects and didn’t even check their content, just blocked the senders.
Click clack.
Click clack.
As I continued blocking them one after another, it truly seemed never-ending.
Scrolling down to open the next page, nearly half of the screen was occupied by similar content.
– “My phone number is 010xxxxxxx, please contact me.”
– “Just hearing Lin’s voice already makes me realize how pretty you are…”
– “What color is your underwear today? Please answer me…”
“…There are really filthy people out there.”
As I blocked them, I couldn’t help but curse in frustration.
While I couldn’t skip the subjects, even reading the titles felt disgusting.
How revolting must the contents within be?
Having garnered quite a bit of attention from numerous people in a short time, I had honestly expected some level of such aggro.
There are many people in the world, and among them, there are bound to be trash.
Isn’t there a famous saying that if five people gather, one of them will be trash?
Though I had indeed anticipated that some bad-natured or genuinely odd people would latch on, actually encountering them was far worse than expected.
There were indeed emails that were so disgusting upon viewing that I couldn’t even bear to speak of them.
While blocking them, one of the warnings Sua had shared during the stream setup assistance flashed in my mind.
– “Be careful, as there will be people who send strange photos or reach out via email. Please block anyone who sends such emails!”
Thinking of those words naturally reminded me of Sua.
“If I’m receiving this much trouble not being on cam, how on earth does Sua fare…?”
Even among the Tweetty streamers I had seen, Sua’s appearance stood out significantly.
Just looking at Sua’s appearance today on screen, she was so pretty that I felt she resembled a celebrity commonly seen on websites.
Having heard she had already been active as a streamer for years, a girl in her early twenties having gone through all this was striking. Furthermore, she now effortlessly streamed and operated her NewTube channel.
Conscious of that fact, I kept blocking emails.
I didn’t have much time to continue being in awe of Sua.
Click clack.
Click clack.
After around thirty minutes of blocking emails, I had dealt with all that needed to be blocked out of the 412 emails.
The remaining emails now displayed their count.
– Inbox 165.
Seirin stared blankly at that number and brushed back her silver hair gently.
Those were the email applications for the editor position she needed to check.
After fiddling momentarily with her silver hair, Seirin weakly muttered.
“Will I be able to sleep well tonight…?”
