Streamer Crazy About Slaughter - Chapter 16
Slowly rising to her feet, she moved toward the entrance.
As she did, a question lingered in her mind, trying to break through her still-sleepy state.
‘Is there someone coming?’
Since she had written in the delivery request, “Please do not ring the bell, just leave it at the door and text me,” the bell had never rung even once. And so, Serin slowly gathered herself and made her way forward.
Ding-dong.
As she reached the intercom at the entrance, the bell rang once again.
‘…Who is it?’
On the small screen of the intercom, a woman stood there, someone she didn’t remember.
A small figure, about 160cm tall, with a cute impression that seemed oddly out of place for a Korean woman—her exotic appearance stood out.
Actually, when she thought about it, there had never been anyone in her memories who even resembled that person.
“Who are you?”
Carefully manipulating the intercom, Han Serin asked the woman on the other side.
“Did you just… ask who I am?”
The woman spoke with a look of shock on her face.
“Serin unni! It’s me, me! Your younger sister! Han Seoyoon… Surely you don’t not recognize me…?”
The woman stated her name, looking shocked and continuing to speak.
Han Seoyoon.
The only contact saved in her smartphone.
‘Younger sister…?`
Naturally, she recalled that the woman in the intercom was her younger sister.
In that moment, she felt a sudden lightness in her head. Confused about how to treat this Seoyoon, she wondered how she would respond to someone who knew “her” that was no longer herself.
Despite the whirlwind of thoughts, Han Serin quickly opened the door.
Creeeak.
As the door opened, Seoyoon simply stood there, blankly staring at the disheveled appearance of Serin.
“…Serin unni.”
Upon seeing her, the woman who looked like she might cry any moment sent Serin’s head spinning.
“Se, Seoyoon…”
Saying her name felt incredibly awkward.
“Did you really not recognize me just now, Serin unni? Is that really it?”
“Ah, no. I just woke up, I was a bit out of it.”
“Does that even make sense…? No, what’s with your appearance? Have you been eating properly? Have you gotten yourself together? You told me not to worry… that you’d just take a short break. You said that to me…!”
As Seoyoon continued to berate her, Serin found it hard to respond properly.
With a face that looked like she might burst into tears at any moment, it was hard to know how to reply.
“…I’m taking care of myself.”
‘What kind of relationship do I have with my sister?’
With no way to know the past actions of the ‘self’ she didn’t even remember, she was more perplexed by the sight of her sister looking so sad than anything.
“Taking care of yourself… looking like this? Seriously, just look at me! You’re looking gaunt because I’m not checking in on you… like this.”
Suddenly, Seoyoon took Serin’s hand.
Serin flinched, but Seoyoon continued as if she didn’t care.
“…Your hands are even thinner than before! You promised me you’d eat on time, just like we agreed.”
As for meals, she had been ordering two servings of delivery food each day without issue.
While she thought about how she couldn’t say that out loud, Serin tried her best to respond well to Seoyoon.
“I-I really just woke up! I’m eating well.”
“…Okay, so you just woke up, right?”
“Ah, yes.”
“You woke up at 4 PM?”
Seoyoon’s repeated questioning made it clear that she was not just asking for the sake of it; she was probing deeper about how her sister had managed to sleep in so late.
“…Se, Seoyoon? It’s because I was tired yesterday. I slept late.”
“Did you really end up staying up late playing games again?”
‘What is this, are you a ghost?’
Seoyoon’s sharp inquiry made Serin feel a chill. She hesitated, looking at Seoyoon, and carefully opened her mouth.
“Uh, how did you know?”
In reality, she had fallen asleep before midnight, but she thought it would be more suspicious if she said she woke up at 4 PM.
“…Unni, you’re such a homebody. Just come on, of course you haven’t eaten yet.”
Had she really given off the impression that she was that kind of person? The first meeting with her sister made it feel like she was obsessed with her eating habits.
“Well, um, I just woke up, so…”
“Then get out of the way. Let me in. Serin unni, really, because I haven’t checked on you, you’ve been living like this… Sigh.”
Naturally, Serin stepped aside as her sister walked into the house.
It was then that she noticed the large bag Seoyoon was carrying.
Peeking out from the bag were what looked like green onions, indicating that her sister had really intended to prepare food.
…This world’s younger sister was similar to her younger sister from the past.
And at that moment, Serin found herself thinking that without realizing it.
At the same time, she bit her lip, holding onto her hands.
‘…’
A strong emotion began to stir within her heart.
She hadn’t wanted to think about it, deliberately avoiding memories of her sister.
But in the sudden appearance of this other younger sister, she couldn’t help but recall memories of the past.
As she looked at the confident back of the younger sister entering the house, a self-deprecating sigh escaped her without her knowing.
…
Bubble, bubble.
The sound of stew boiling.
Tap, tap, tap!
Was that the sound of vegetables being chopped? The rhythmic sound of a kn*fe hitting the cutting board echoed through the room.
Han Seoyoon.
Though her younger sister’s figure was undoubtedly strange, the more she looked, the more familiar it felt.
Like someone she had seen for a long time, her younger sister started to fit her vision. Not as a stranger, but as true ‘family.’
Caught in that thought, Han Serin let out a chuckle without meaning to.
She didn’t even recall what her sister looked like, and yet she thought of her as family.
Her own thoughts seemed absurd.
Then suddenly, her younger sister turned to face her.
In an apron, Seoyoon looked back with a fierce glare as if she had found dust in the kitchen.
With a disapproving expression, she gazed at Serin.
“…Serin unni, you’re living like this without cleaning?”
Honestly, it just felt cute. With her small stature and adorable face, there was nothing scary about her words.
“Lately… it’s been chaotic.”
And without meaning to, those feelings slipped out of Serin as she spoke to Seoyoon.
Since falling into this world, she had been lost in thought, aimlessly passing the time.
She was gradually accepting the reality of being in this world.
Thinking that way, she had solved her meals with delivery food for every meal while being cooped up at home, only using her computer.
While she was learning a little about this world, she had never once stepped outside.
Perhaps, she might have been afraid of this world.
In the world of Black Ark, she had reached a level of power that could be considered supreme.
She had relished fighting monsters, no longer fearing anything in the world.
But that person was no longer here.
Now, she was just one woman named Han Serin.
Suddenly sent to this world without the strength she had gained in the world of Black Ark or anything she had achieved over the years.
—You can go back now.
—You’ve worked hard. You don’t have to suffer anymore.
Even now, several days later, she vividly remembered the words spoken by an unknown entity that had sent her back.
“…Serin unni! Serin unni!?”
Snap out of her trance, she realized she had been lost in thought as her sister waved her hands in front of her.
Since falling into this world, she had indeed noticed that her time spent in contemplation had increased; even Serin was aware of it.
“…Huh?”
“Unni… what’s wrong? Are you really okay? You’ve been unresponsive even after I called you several times… Why do you make me worried like this?”
Seeing Seoyoon hold her hand tightly and speak with concern, Serin naturally smiled warmly and shook her head slightly.
“I just had some things on my mind. Seoyoon… don’t worry too much.”
“What’s up with you, Serin unni? You smiled all of a sudden; I’ve never seen you smile like that before.”
“Am I not smiling often?”
“No, you’ve never smiled like that before.”
