[TS] Formula One Streamer - Chapter 114

I am Mr. Science No.5. The start of the first serious interview began with my first meeting the owner of ‘that’ vehicle.

The interview, which started with grand words about attitudes towards broadcasts and visions, was embarrassingly lacking any structure or organization, as it was hardly worthy of being called an interview.

While I’ve experienced being interviewed several times, I’ve never actually stood in the position of the interviewer. So I had no choice but to continue the conversation on improvised topics as they came up.

“Please introduce yourself briefly.”

“My name is Kim Jin-soo, I’m 28 years old. I graduated high school and I’m currently jobless.”

The answer given by Mr. Science No.5, who introduced himself as Kim Jin-soo, was very simple and clear. It was hard to ask anything more as he lacked any career or qualifications.

However, that was by no means a negative factor. As a manager, I wasn’t even considering that.

Whether I graduated from Seoul University or Harvard, it would be the same if I had nothing to say.

Isn’t it true that what really matters for a manager is their character? Those who work in professions that manage and control people often have exceptional or attractive human qualities rather than just good educational backgrounds.

Reliable, diligent, honest, just,

Such individuals typically have harmonious interpersonal relationships and possess socially proactive personalities.

Of course, having a good educational background would be a plus, but it’s not a necessary factor.

In that sense, being a manager is perhaps closer to the viewers than to the streamer. Thus, viewers must first recognize the manager as a manager.

If I am the king, my broadcast is the nation, and the viewers are the citizens, then the managers are akin to congress members governing the nation. Naturally, citizens should elect representatives whom they can accept.

Otherwise, there will be rebellion, revolution, coup… whatever you call it, internal strife is bound to occur.

Moreover, in this democratic society, it should be a common understanding for viewers who are essentially citizens to elect a manager. Since I was doing it alone, I had to be extremely cautious about the interview.

Any issue raised by the manager in the future would be my responsibility. Therefore, the audience’s grievances would all be directed at me.

Ha, this is why I dislike being in a position of picking people and being responsible.

A tree with many branches hardly has calm days. I can’t complain since I’ve extended branches by my own will, but even a pillar must grow appropriately. This structure cannot be without branches!

Still, I consoled myself that having 19 branches wasn’t too many compared to the thickness of the pillar and moved on to the next question.

“What motivated you to apply?”

“I think you know that I watch the broadcasts every day. I was a fan of Mr. Yooihyun, and when I heard you were hiring a manager, I applied.”

Right. Of course, the fan sentiment must be strong. All the applicants come in to greet me as if they were ticketing for a show, entering in less than a second when I start the broadcast.

However, this alone was insufficient. As I mentioned to the earlier applicants, the manager position is not something one can wear as an armband irresponsibly. Even if it’s not a sense of mission, one should at least have professional awareness.

As a king, I had the duty to clearly understand that. With a serious expression, devoid of playfulness, I asked him again.

“Mr. Jin-soo, could you elaborate a bit more?”

“Hmm…”

Up to this point, Mr. Science No.5 had approached the interview lightly, but whether he truly read my intentions or not, he straightened his posture and calmly began to speak.

I too had the instinct that I could gauge his qualifications as a manager at this point, so I started paying close attention to his voice.

“At first, it’s true that I applied purely out of fan sentiment. But after receiving the first acceptance email and seeing things like salary, it made me realize that this isn’t something to think lightly about.”

Recalling the time he received the acceptance notice, his dark eyes quietly sank.

“So I seriously thought about why I need to be a manager. There turned out to be more reasons than I expected.”

Kim Jin-soo, who glanced at me once, raised his fingers one by one to count and explain the reasons.

“I really like this streamer named KING. The broadcasts are super fun. Every moment in which I communicate with other viewers and create an atmosphere is wonderful. Watching the broadcasts feels somehow healing. It’s comforting.”

Comforting… That feeling could be the highest praise a streamer can receive.

When choosing a life partner with whom one will navigate through a long life, it’s only natural to consider someone who brings ease to their heart as the best choice.

So what of the relationship between viewers and streamers?

The essence of human nature ultimately leads to laziness, which is another way of saying comfort.

The compliment might be saying that the final destination, after traveling through numerous streams, is my broadcast.

“So, I wanted to personally ensure that KING’s broadcast lasts as long as possible. I also really like people, so I think I can do my job diligently. Honestly… I just hope that KING’s broadcast never ends.”

Mr. Science No.5, whose eyes met mine, sheepishly smiled and averted his gaze. It was a gesture suggesting he had nothing more to say.

“Um…”

To put it bluntly, assessing someone’s character or personality in such a short time is undoubtedly impossible.

Using Kim Jin-soo as an example, this person is a book that has been around for 28 years. The narrative created by the years of experience that has been built over that lengthy period is the masterpiece that is Kim Jin-soo.

It’s absolutely impossible to read it all in less than ten minutes.

However, that’s why a book cover has titles, images, and excerpts written on it. These serve as gentle signposts to subtly suggest what kind of book it is, helping readers make their selections.

In reality, within the waves of overflowing books, people choose based on the information hinted at.

Because they like the title, the picture catches their eye, or the excerpt resonates with them.

“I like it.”

I liked Kim Jin-soo’s line.

The wish that broadcasts wouldn’t end. How many pages does that amount to in a thick tome that’s 28 years old? I liked that one single line contained within.

“Finally, if you have anything you’d like to say, please go ahead.”

Since I had already made my decision in my heart, I thought there was no need to ask any more questions and gave him the final speaking opportunity.

Kim Jin-soo looked a bit disappointed as he smiled, possibly considering it a bad turn of events. He also looked somewhat relieved.

“Uh, it’s okay if I don’t become the manager. I just hope you find a good manager so that you can have a long broadcast. I love Mr. Yooihyun!”

“Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Jin-soo.”

As I looked at the empty space left behind by Mr. Science No.5, who exited with a finger heart, I called the next candidate.

If an older brother comes, a younger brother should follow.

KING: Mr. Science No.3, please come in.

The next number was of course Mr. Science No.3.

“Oh, finally it’s over. Once a conversation starts, it takes much longer than expected…”

After sending the last interviewee back to the pit, I stretched my stiff body out of the cockpit and began to sort through the interview content.

I contemplated who to eliminate and who to accept. All 19 applicants had rounded personalities without any sharp edges. They would be fine to have as friends even if they weren’t managers.

While there weren’t any disqualifying factors for the manager positions, there were a few candidates that had to be eliminated exceptionally.

There were those who couldn’t meet the irregular broadcast times due to their current jobs or people who had lied about their ages.

One could argue that they could resign from their jobs and that age shouldn’t matter, but…

If they say they’re running a business with their wife, how can I ask them to quit? I wouldn’t want to be blamed by someone’s wife either.

If he’s saying he’s still in high school and shouldn’t drop out, what can I say to the parents? I’d just be a scumbag ruining their child’s opportunities.

Regardless of the reasons, anyone who doesn’t meet the criteria of being an adult and not being jobless from the beginning is eliminated.

While managers are chosen because they are needed, there’s also the significance of creating job opportunities.

“Move to the pit.”

After finishing the organization, I hurried back to the waiting candidates, who were worn out from waiting.

The candidates were indeed displaying cheerful camaraderie as they spent their time together, displaying the personality of social butterflies.

Ah… Was it only hard for me?

Drawing attention with applause from the podium, I delivered my closing remarks.

“With this, the first interview is concluded. We will notify both successful and unsuccessful candidates about their outcomes via their applied email by tomorrow. Thank you all for your hard work today during the interviews!”

“Go Yooihyun!”

“I love you, Lee Hyun!”

“Long live KING’s broadcasts!!!”

The warmth of Korean solidarity hasn’t diminished even after 31 years.

The candidates left the room, each leaving a word of encouragement. I waved them off.

[Mr. Daehan-nongmin has exited.]

“Oh, Daehan-nongmin, Choi Ji-yoon…”

The nickname of the last candidate who left, smelling of the earth, made its presence felt with a brief message.

This person was genuinely an adult. When I checked his age through the information window, he was indeed twenty-two years old.

Ah, and why did I call him ‘oppa’? It’s simple. If someone is prettier than you, they’re all ‘unni’ or ‘oppa’ or whatever.

Chuckling, I exited the private chat and immediately started searching for ranked game matches since I had become a Ferrari driver.

F1. I must rise to a ranking that befits it.

“Hello, this is KING.”

[Oh d*mn, how long has it been since the broadcast ended that you’re already here!!!]

[Is the interview already over?]

[Gienjang!!! I believed in you, Lee Hyun!!!]

[The broadcaster is this diligent? This isn’t a broadcaster…]

[Help! I’ve been waiting for you, my dear Kissu!]

[Long live Yooihyun!]

[Are there going to be no broadcasts today too?]

[You must be busy developing Ferrari, but there’s no way today is a no-broadcast day since it’s a weekday.]

[What does that matter? What’s important is that you came.]

《QUEEN has donated 500,000 won!》

– Thank you for coming back quickly, Your Majesty.

Of course, the broadcast was ON.
