Now That I Have Become a Woman, I Am a Vtuber - Chapter 89
RestThe day after signing the contract.
I called my manager to let them know I’d be appearing in a film.
[Really?]
“You’re… not all that surprised?”
I felt like I should at least inform him, but his reaction was pretty lukewarm. I expected more surprise, honestly.
[Not really. I always thought you had a look for TV. What’s more surprising is that you know Moon Chang-sik.]
“Oh, I just happened to meet him by chance.”
[By chance, huh? Well, I’ll make sure to watch it when it’s out. You won’t have too much filming to do, right?]
“Yeah, it’s a minor role, so I should only need one or two takes.”
Honestly, I think it’ll just take one. I’m not even in multiple scenes.
Should I practice my lines a bit more at home? They said I was fine as is, but this isn’t some school play—it’s a real movie. Feels like I should at least get the basics down out of respect.
[Good to know. Now we actually need to finalize the songs for the year-end concert and set a practice schedule.]
“Oh, right.”
Come to think of it, singing isn’t just about practicing dance moves—I’ll need to rehearse properly too.
And it’s not like the concert will only be ten or twenty minutes. It’ll last at least an hour, so I’ll need to memorize quite a few songs.
[It probably won’t be as many songs as you think. There will be several group numbers and at least one solo for everyone, so it shouldn’t be too overwhelming.]
Still, it seems like a fair amount. But if my manager says it’s not that much, I’ll take his word for it.
[The important part is picking the songs. And don’t forget, Murasaki Tenshi will be a guest performer, right? You’ll need to decide on a song for your duet too.]
“Oh, I have to choose?”
[Well, you should discuss it with her. It’ll be better if you pick something you’re confident in rather than letting us decide. And talk with the others about the group numbers too.]
Hmm… The two official Heaven’s Realm Project songs are a must, but it seems like I can choose the others. I don’t feel particularly confident in picking songs, though. It’d be so much easier if the company just decided for me.
[There’s still some time, so take your time choosing carefully.]
“Alright.”
[Oh, and remember, you’ll need to dance, so keep that in mind too.]
“Yeah….”
With that, the call ended, leaving me feeling like I’d just gotten a pile of homework. I collapsed onto my bed.
Why does it feel like I have so much to do?
Feels like just yesterday I had free time on my hands.
“Ah, whatever!”
Looking back, I’ve been going out a lot lately and handling a bunch of stuff.
But even with all that, there’s still so much left to do… To heck with it.
There’s nothing planned today, so I decided to just spend the day doing nothing.
No streaming either! That’s tomorrow Miro’s problem.
I sprawled on my bed, scrolling through my phone.
I caught up on some novels I’d been putting off, snacked a bit, played with my dog Boksil when he wandered into my room.
Hours passed as I lounged around, determined to enjoy every minute of laziness.
Until, eventually… I got bored out of my mind.
What should I do now?
I’d planned to spend the whole day relaxing, but now I’ve hit a wall…
As I lay there pondering, I remembered my long-neglected art account.
Maybe it’s time to check in again since it’s been a while?
I got up and went to the sound booth.
I could check it on my phone, but for something I haven’t touched in so long, it felt better to open it on my PC.
Zing—
The computer booted up in five seconds flat, and I logged into my Twitter account.
There were a ridiculous number of notifications, so I opened them with a mix of curiosity and dread, like opening Pandora’s box.
Sure enough, it was chaos—people cursing me, others cursing those people. It was a complete mess.
The good news was that things had died down significantly around Chuseok, and now the fuss was barely a whisper.
So, time was the answer after all. Less than a month, and it’s already dying out. Not much firepower, huh?
Guess I can start posting art again.
Getting a reaction is always addictive, after all. Streaming’s fun, but there’s something special about seeing people enjoy my art too.
So, I uploaded one of the drawings I’d done earlier and then closed the Twitter tab.
I’ll check back for reactions tomorrow.
With that done, I went out to the living room.
My mom, Ms. Jang, was watching TV with Boksil, my dog, who I’d been playing with earlier.
As soon as she saw me, she clicked her tongue.
“I thought you were finally going out a bit, but you’re spending the whole day in your room. Go exercise a little!”
Ugh, here comes the nagging. I covered my ears dramatically, and she just looked at me in disbelief.
“Honestly, I gave birth to a real handful.”
“Where else will you find such a charming handful?”
“Even the president isn’t this shameless.”
“What?”
“Anyway, are you free next week?”
“Next week? When exactly?”
“Saturday.”
Next Saturday… Dance lessons are on weekdays, and I haven’t gotten a confirmed schedule for the movie shoot yet, so… guess I’m free.
“Yeah, I think so.”
“Then keep it open.”
“Why? What’s happening?”
“Seriously? It’s your dad’s birthday on Saturday. We’re planning to go out for a family dinner.”
Oh, right—Dad’s birthday is coming up.
Didn’t I say I’d do something special for him this year?
Ah, that’s right—I’d promised a trip to Japan.
A trip to Japan… I just got a good idea.
“Instead of going out for dinner, why don’t we take a quick trip to Japan?”
“What’s this about Japan?”
“I’ve got some things to do there too, and it’s about time for an international trip.”
“Really? Your dad would love that.”
“Yeah, and while I’m busy meeting a friend, you two can have a little date.”
“A friend? You have a friend in Japan?”
“Yep, just one.”
They’d invited me to visit, so it’s the perfect chance. Where do they live again… Osaka? Tokyo? I’ll need to double-check.
“…Is it a guy?”
“Oh, please. Don’t even dream of it.”
A boyfriend? Honestly, I wonder if that’ll ever happen for me. Looks like my mom and dad might be missing out on adorable grandchildren.
“Yeah, I wasn’t holding my breath.”
“Then why ask?”
“I had to make sure.”
She looked at me for a long moment before slapping me lightly on the back.
Slap!
“Ow! Why’d you hit me?”
“Because it’s annoying. I raised you to be perfectly fine, and here you are, holed up at home!”
“Weren’t you the one who told me to come back home?”
“Who told you to drop out of school?”
“I’m making money!”
“Oh, whatever!”
She clutched her chest as if I was giving her heartburn, but honestly, who cares?
I’m still only twenty-one. It’s not like I’m going to change dramatically in a few years, but it still feels like I’m young, with all sorts of possibilities open to me.
I mean, who knows where I’ll be in ten years?
Will I still be streaming then? Maybe I’ll have millions of subscribers. Or maybe the whole VTuber industry will tank, and I’ll end up jobless.
Guess I’ll find out when the time comes.
I escaped back to my room, away from Mom’s frustration, and checked my phone. My manager had updated everything in the Heaven’s Realm group chat, which was buzzing with activity.
Everyone seemed deep in thought about what songs to pick. I really need to choose mine, too.
Maybe I’ll start with about five potential songs and narrow it down. For the duet with Tenshi, I’ll set a time to discuss options with her.
The first song that comes to mind is my audition cover—it’s a bit symbolic, so fans would probably enjoy it, but it might lack a fresh vibe.
Or… should I go with a Korean song? It’d be different, especially since everyone in the chat is mostly considering Japanese songs. Going with K-pop might be an interesting twist.
Problem is, I don’t know much about that genre… Maybe Roa, who seems familiar with it, could give me some recommendations.
Just as I sat on my bed, lost in song choices, my phone buzzed.
Who could it be? Is it one of the Heaven’s Realm Project members?
I figured they might be calling to ask my thoughts on song choices, so I checked my phone, but the name on the screen wasn’t who I expected.
[Moon Chang-sik]
Why’s he calling me?
Could the film shoot schedule already be set? I thought they were still consulting with the scriptwriter.
Not sure what it’s about, but I’ll find out if I pick up.
“Hello?”
[Oh, this is Moon Chang-sik. Is this Suhyun?]
“Yes, that’s me.”
[Would you be able to talk right now?]
“Yes, I can.”
[Well, I have something to relay to you. The director thought it’d be better if I delivered the news myself.]
His voice even sounds polite over the phone. Must be a habit from regularly talking to high-ranking people.
“What’s this about? Feel free to speak openly.”
[Alright, then… So, I actually showed the video we shot to the scriptwriter.]
By video, does he mean the test footage we shot? Hearing that makes me feel a bit self-conscious.
Did I act okay in that? Maybe not perfectly, but at least I wasn’t too awkward, right?
“Yes, and… what did they think?”
[Well, the scriptwriter made a few adjustments based on it. Would you like to take a look?]
They changed the script?
I mean, that makes sense. They did say there might be revisions when we signed the contract.
“Please send it over, and I’ll read it.”
[Got it. It’s not too long, so you can read it right now.]
Relieved that it’s not lengthy, I opened the revised script that Chang-sik texted me.
The beginning was pretty much the same as before.
But then…
Wait, what…
Did I read that right?
I read the script again.
And then once more, just to make sure I wasn’t mistaken.
So…
[What do you think? It adds depth to the character, doesn’t it…?]
“I’m not doing it!”
[Pardon?]
“I’m absolutely not doing it!”
What on earth…?

**Author’s Note**
It’s been a week. I’m genuinely so glad to see you all again.
Did you have a good rest during the Chuseok holiday?
I took care of all the things that had been interfering with my updates. Now, there shouldn’t be any more interruptions.
On another note, I saw that the latest Novelpia contest has opened.
With a prize of 100 million won… it’s incredibly tempting. Part of me wants to take a shot, but I’m also thinking I should just focus on doing my best with the current series.
Anyway, it’s great to see you all again.
