Now That I Have Become a Woman, I Am a Vtuber - Chapter 86

Worries - 2

Maho’s room was still as cute and cozy as ever.

Hmm… aside from a few more stuffed animals and the autograph from Moon Chang-shik I gave her on one wall, it’s pretty much the same as last time.

“Come on in.”

“Thanks.”

I stepped in and spotted her computer in the middle of a stream.

Hmm… the chat window is going wild.

I guess viewers go crazy anytime a streamer steps away, no matter whose stream it is.

“Did you tell them I was coming?”

“I told them someone was coming, but I didn’t say it was you.”

“Well, let’s not keep them waiting then.”

There’s no point in dragging this out, so I tossed my coat on a chair and was about to head over to the computer when I took a quick detour to the bathroom. Considering all the places I’ve been today, it’s probably best to wash my hands and feet.

When I came back and sat in the streaming chair, Maho gave me an exasperated look.

“If you’re sitting there, where am I supposed to sit?”

“I’m the guest, aren’t I?”

“Guest, my foot! You’re more like a pest!”

With that, Maho yanked me out of the chair. Her strength… well, I guess it makes sense with her build. Maho, living proof of human strength, casually lifted my fragile self and plopped me onto the bed.

“Stay there.”

“Yes, ma’am…”

Defeated by her strength, I obediently sat on the bed.

“Turning the mic on now, okay?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

In Maho’s room, the bed and desk are super close. My voice should be easy to pick up on the mic even from here.

As I watched Maho run her stream, I noticed the chat was incredibly chill. Everything about it seemed laid-back, just like Maho herself.

So do viewers just match the vibe of their streamer?

No way. If that were true, what would that say about my viewers?

Well, I’ll save that analysis of viewer-streamer dynamics for later. For now, I should probably make my presence known.

“When are you going to introduce me?”

“Oh, Miro! Don’t just jump in like that! I was going to surprise them!”

“Nothing good ever comes from dragging it out~”

With that, I leaned forward a bit to glance at the chat.

*Lololol*

– Wait, is Miro here?

– The youngest is here! Haha

– She just pops right in, lol

Whoa, there’s no profanity in the chat?

This is a nice change.

Well, this calm atmosphere won’t last once some of my regulars start showing up.

“Hello, everyone, this is Miro.”

– Nice to see you

– *Miro is here, lol*

– *Are you two close?*

“Close? Yeah, all the Celestial Project members are pretty close.”

We’re not like best friends or anything, but we’re closer than the typical business relationship. Though, since we rarely meet in person, there are limits to how close we can get.

– *How’d she end up there?*

– *Is she streaming today?*

– *Why is this girl here?*

It didn’t take long for my regular viewers to start popping up. The Miro crew doesn’t avoid other streams, so they probably just heard my voice and hopped over to the chat here.

“Actually, I just dropped by for some advice, and it turned out she was streaming.”

– *You need advice?*

– *Is it about a guy?*

A guy? Like I’d ever have that kind of concern.

Still… it’s a bit surreal seeing the chat so calm. Maybe I should stir things up just a tiny bit?

“What if it *is* about a guy?”

“Miro!”

– *???*

– *Wait, what?*

– *Drama?*

– *No way*

“Maybe I should drop a bombshell since it’s not even my stream?”

“You little—!”

Before I could say more, Maho rushed over and clamped her hand over my mouth.

– *Is she crazy?*

– *Wow, just because it’s not her stream*

– *She’s something else*

Hmm, looks like even her viewers aren’t entirely convinced by my antics. Seriously, who would reveal a guy problem on a stream? Especially a virtual streamer.

“Just kidding, it’s actually about work, so I dropped by for some advice.”

– *Work? Related to streaming?*

– *Is that something you can talk about on stream?*

“I’m not going to share the details, but it’s something like that.”

It’s not internet streaming but actual stream work. Even though it’s for the big screen, it’ll probably air on TV eventually.

– *Ooh…*

– *Is something big coming?*

– *Does it involve dancing?*

Of course, they’re jumping to conclusions, but unfortunately, it’s not about that.

“No, it doesn’t have anything to do with you all, so don’t ask for details.”

– *???*

– *Seriously?*

– *Then why bring it up?*

“Oh, sorry about that. I was just answering your questions—I didn’t expect you’d all get so curious.”

– *Do you have a death wish?*

– *You shouldn’t have teased it if you weren’t going to tell us!*

– *Holding my breath until you spill the details*

It seems like my regulars are coming out of the woodwork now, and the chat is starting to get a bit rowdy. This feels… familiar. Like coming home. Ah, a properly lively chat is just how it should be…

“Argh! Miro, get over there and stay out of trouble!”

But eventually, Maho, horrified by the escalating chat, shooed me over to the corner of the bed.

“Geez… now the viewers are all riled up.”

“Haha, want to control the viewers, huh?”

“Where’d you get *that* idea?”

“Well… you just have to do this.”

I reached over and pulled out a VR headset from the shelf next to the bed.

“Why that?”

“How about Beat Saber?”

I hadn’t done my workout for the day, so I figured I might as well suggest it since I was here. But Maho’s face scrunched up immediately.

“Ugh, no way.”

Didn’t expect to be rejected so quickly… does she dislike it that much?

“You don’t have much stamina, either.”

“Excuse me, I’m better off than you! Have you even done your jump rope?”

Jump rope… Now that she mentioned it, I did a bit yesterday before ditching it for VR.

“Um… no. But I’m building my endurance with Beat Saber.”

“Stop talking nonsense and put that down. Come back here.”

“Huh?”

After kicking me out earlier, now she’s asking me to come back? What could she want?

“A viewer suggested doing an Ideal Type World Cup, so I thought we’d try it out.”

“Oh…”

Isn’t that one of my staple streaming segments? I’m confident I can nail this.

“What’s the topic?”

“Best exercises.”

“Wait, what?”

“We’re going to debate the best workout.”

… Exercise?

I mean, I’m no expert, but Maho doesn’t exercise much either. What kind of debate are we even going to have?

“Unqualified debates are the most fun, you know.”

“Well, you’ve got a point…”

“Stop making excuses. Let’s just do it.”

“Yes, ma’am…”

So we ended up doing an Exercise World Cup… and honestly, it was pretty fun. It turned out to be a chaotic word fest, but hey, if the streamers are having fun and the viewers are grumbling, that’s a success, isn’t it?

Anyway, after we wrapped up the stream…

“So, what’s the big concern weighing on our Suhyun?”

“Um… so, here’s the thing.”

It was time to share my concerns. I explained to Maho, who was sitting next to me on the bed, what had happened. I told her about meeting Moon Chang-shik again at the composer’s studio for work and being offered a bit part in his movie.

“Wait… you saw actor Moon Chang-shik again? And he offered you a bit part in his movie?”

“Yes. Oh, and I have to keep the movie a secret.”

“Oh… that’s, well, that’s definitely a kind of problem I never imagined.”

Yeah, it’s understandable. I hadn’t imagined myself dealing with this kind of dilemma either.

“Hmm…”

Maho closed her eyes, looking as if she were pondering a question of her own, and then spoke.

“If it were me… I probably wouldn’t do it.”

“Oh… why’s that?”

Hyun-soo had the complete opposite opinion, so it made me wonder—was it because of our different environments or personalities?

“I’m just really happy with where I am now… I’m not exactly the active type.”

As I thought… she’s a lot like a female version of me. Being content with the present is also a kind of virtue, after all. I’d been thinking that way myself until recently.

“This is just my take, though, so don’t let it sway you too much. And honestly, I think you’d do really well if you tried.”

“Me?”

Do well, huh. It’s true that I wouldn’t feel entirely out of my element. After all, my job involves putting on a show for thousands of people every day… though, of course, acting on camera is a bit different.

“And besides just looks, you’re already good at a lot of things, right? Doing some acting on top of that wouldn’t be strange, and if it’s just a bit part, it’s only a couple of shoots.”

“That’s true. It feels like I’m overthinking something minor. It’s just a couple of shoots.”

If it really bothers me, I could always just say no later.

Yet here I am, going to people for advice… I must seem pretty indecisive.

“If it’s bothering you that much, why not check out the set yourself?”

“Huh?”

“Just go to the set, watch the actors, and if you feel like giving it a try, go for it. If not, just walk away.”

“Wait… can I actually do that?”

Is it even possible to just show up at a film set?

“It’s not just anyone recommending you—it’s Moon Chang-shik. That should be doable, right?”

Maho glanced at me with a hint of amusement.

“And I doubt the director would get annoyed. Have you ever met anyone of the opposite sex who’s been annoyed with you?”

Annoyed? Back when I was a guy, maybe there’d been some instances… but as the female Suhyun, well…

“No, I haven’t?”

“Right. But still, just ask. You can at least do that, right?”

…So should I go ahead and just ask?

Going to the set to get a feel for things really does sound like a good idea—if they allow it, that is.

That evening, I returned home and gave Moon Chang-shik a call. Knowing he was a busy person, I was prepared to call again tomorrow if he didn’t pick up, but he answered right away.

[Hello?]

“Oh, yes, it’s Suhyun.”

[Ah, Suhyun, have you given it some thought?]

It feels a bit hasty to be calling back just a day after I said I’d think about it, but it’s probably better to be upfront.

“I’d like to take my time making a decision. Would it be possible for me to visit the set?”

As soon as I asked, I wondered if it sounded strange. But surprisingly, Moon Chang-shik responded calmly.

[Of course. I’ll speak to the director about it.]

“Wouldn’t that be a bit of an imposition? It’s just a small part, so asking to observe the set…”

I mean, is it really okay to agree just like that? From my perspective, it would be a bit odd. I’m not a top-tier actor, and it’s just a small role—who would need a set tour for that? There must be plenty of people willing to take the part without all this fuss.

[It’s no problem at all.]

“Really?”

[Yes, honestly. If it were anyone else, maybe, but I think the director would be happy to have you, Suhyun.]

“Oh… that’s a relief.”

It’s reassuring, though I still feel a bit like I’m imposing. But I really do want to make a careful decision.

[Don’t worry—it’s not an imposition at all. Our director is an excellent chef.]

“Pardon?”

A chef? What does that mean? Is that industry slang?

[Oh, no hidden meaning—it just means he doesn’t see time spent assessing good potential as a waste.]

Uh… that’s a compliment, right?

Anyway, the plan was set for me to visit the set once.
