Now That I Have Become a Woman, I Am a Vtuber - Chapter 81
Dance LessonsChuseok is over.
So, what’s left now?
“Ha, do I really have to go?”
[Yes, of course, you have to go. We worked hard to book a famous person.]
I let out a deep sigh at the manager’s answer.
So, now I have dance lessons left.
I realized it during the shoot with my younger cousin last time, but… I’m really terrible at anything that requires moving my body.
“More importantly, you said they’re famous?”
[Yes, they’re someone who appears on TV often. Since we got a bit of attention recently, they seem interested.]
Oh… being famous must mean they’re skilled, right?
I’m a little excited.
“What’s their name?”
[I heard it’s Lee Yeryeong. Do you know her?]
“Come on, how would I know?”
Maybe my younger cousin would, but… there’s no way I would know.
I keep saying this, but I’m the kind of person who wouldn’t even recognize Moon Changsik.
Later, when I found out more about it, I realized it was something I could consider an accomplishment.
[I figured. Anyway, please make sure you come on time.]
“Got it.”
For now, the dance lessons are set to be about once a week.
Well, it’s a bit of a distance, but once a week should be manageable.
In the group chat, the other members seem a bit excited, but I’m not sure.
Won’t it be awkward? Everyone else might catch on quickly, and if I’m the only one struggling… ugh… who knows.
I have to go tomorrow anyway, so should I do a bit of studying in advance?
In today’s internet age, there’s bound to be a basic dance video somewhere.
If I learn a bit beforehand, I might get called a prodigy at the start… sigh, never mind.
Ping—
I tossed my phone onto the bed and lay down with it.
Even if I learn a bit beforehand, it’ll all come out eventually, so what’s the point?
I’ll just go and work hard.
Where does hard work not get you anywhere? As long as I can manage to perform at the year-end live show, it’ll be fine.
Besides, didn’t they say the teacher is famous? They’ll teach well.
I don’t know.
I’ll just pretend I’m dead for about 5 hours, and that’ll make it easier.
With that thought, I left tomorrow’s worries to the future me and closed my eyes, deciding to rest for the night.
***
The next day.
I left the house to head to the dance studio I was told about in advance.
“Woof!”
Since it was a weekday, Bokshil, who usually stayed in the yard, rushed over to me right away, but I quickly dodged her.
“Woof?”
“Bokshil, can’t you see your sister’s pants?”
Normally, I’d just pat her and leave, but I can’t today since I’m wearing black training pants.
I can’t go with fur all over me.
If it were any other color, it’d be fine, but that white fluff would stand out way too much on my black training pants.
As I dodged her, Bokshil looked a bit dejected, but I hurried out through the front gate.
“Sorry, Bokshil, I’ll take you for a walk later.”
As I stepped outside the gate, I noticed a woman at the end of the alley who stood out immediately.
She was clearly a head taller than the men walking by her.
…Every time I see her, I wonder if she shouldn’t have pursued athletics with that physique.
Not that I should talk, but it feels like a bit of a waste for her to just be at home on the computer with that build.
“Su-hyun, you’re here?”
As I approached, Maho noticed me first and waved.
I waved back and joined her as we headed to the subway station.
Normally, we would have gone separately, but since we live nearby, we decided to go together.
“Taking Line 1 straight through makes it convenient.”
“Others didn’t have it so easy, but we lucked out.”
Still, it’s nice not having to transfer trains at the station; it’s such a hassle.
Since it was a quiet time with few people around, Maho and I comfortably took our seats on the train.
But, wow, we’re definitely attracting attention.
Everyone who gets on and off the train takes a glance at us.
I’ve gotten used to it somewhat… but it’s not like I don’t notice.
Honestly, if I were a guy, I’d probably steal a glance too, so I can’t really blame them.
Taking in the casual stares, we got off the subway and saw a group of girls gathered in front of us.
They looked like any group of girls you’d see, but one person definitely stood out—Roah.
How can she look so hip even in training clothes?
Is a good face really what completes a look?
“Oh? You’re here.”
“Over here, over here!”
When I stared at them intently, they noticed us and waved enthusiastically.
“Unnie, the other members are gathered over there.”
“Oh… really? Let’s go.”
Despite her wide field of vision, Maho had been looking in the wrong direction, missing the members entirely. It wasn’t until I pointed them out that she finally saw them and waved back.
Is this the first time we’ve all gathered since the ‘Miro 24H’ event?
Since we’ll have dance lessons from now on, we’ll probably be seeing each other often.
“Wow, Su-hyun, you get prettier every time I see you.”
As we got closer to the group, Mile complimented me with exaggerated admiration.
“Have I gotten prettier since last time?”
“Definitely, your face is practically glowing.”
This person… complimenting me like that won’t get them anything.
Still, I should play along.
“Strange. I thought there was no room left to get prettier.”
I even tilted my head as if genuinely confused, and Mile scrunched up her face like she’d seen something unsightly.
“Wow… can I punch you just once?”
“Oh-ho, hold it! Don’t raise your fist!”
Mile’s hand almost went up, but Anna, the oldest member, quickly intervened.
Well, that’s what you get for starting with the flattery.
After a brief commotion, we exited the subway and headed to the building the company had directed us to.
“Is this the place?”
“Yeah, they said it’s in the basement of this building, so we should be good to go inside.”
The building the company had directed us to was decently large and looked clean.
Well, we’re not buying it, just renting, so it seems they went with a good choice.
One thing about The Six is they don’t skimp on spending in areas like this.
“This should be the right place, right?”
“Wow, I’m getting nervous.”
“Me too.”
Everyone had seemed nonchalant, but as we stepped into the building, they started showing a bit of tension.
The only ones who seemed totally composed were Anna and Roah.
For the record, I was the most nervous one here.
As we made our way to the basement, we found the dance lesson rooms.
There were two—Room A and Room B—and we were supposed to go to Room A, right?
“We go to the left.”
Following Anna, who had been navigating us with her phone, we took a left and arrived at Room A.
“Alright, here we go.”
As we opened the frosted glass door that had been firmly shut, we could see inside the room.
Upon entering, there was a shoe rack, and one side of the room was entirely covered with mirrors.
It was immediately clear that this space was meant for dance practice. Inside, a woman was moving busily along one wall but turned to look at us as the door opened.
“Oh?! Hello, everyone!”
Judging by her reaction, this must be the instructor the company had arranged.
As expected of a well-known person, there was an aura of poise about her.
Her body was fit, as would be expected of someone who dances, and her skin was flawlessly clear.
“I’ve been waiting for you!”
The instructor beamed brightly as she walked toward us with confident strides.
“I was so excited to meet you all….”
Starting with Anna, who was at the front, she made eye contact with each of us one by one, until her gaze met mine.
“Oh….”
Her expression shifted slightly.
“Um… are you perhaps the group from the Celestial Project?”
With that question, a brief silence filled the room.
And then—
“Pffft.”
“Hahaha!”
The members burst out laughing all at once.
What’s so funny?
From Anna, who was laughing the loudest, to Roah, who was chuckling awkwardly, everyone found it hilarious.
All this laughing seemed to make the instructor more confused.
“Yes, we’re from the Celestial Project. I’m Miro.”
As I stepped in to answer, the instructor’s expression transformed from subtle confusion to surprise.
“Wow… I thought an idol group had come in.”
“We get that a lot.”
“Really… I bet you get that a lot.”
Sigh… hearing her say it so earnestly is a bit embarrassing.
“Haha, please take good care of us today.”
“Oh, that’s what I should be saying. Come on in!”
Honestly, I was a bit worried that the instructor might have a tough personality, but it turned out my concerns were unnecessary—she was friendly and cheerful.
“Alright, first, let’s take off our jackets and start with some stretching. We have plenty of time, but a short deadline, so let’s do an accelerated course!”
After a brief stretch, the first-day lesson began, and it was as simple as could be.
“So—left foot, right foot, just follow along like this.”
The instructor demonstrated the basic movements slowly, and all we had to do was follow her.
…This much is manageable.
It was just the basics, so keeping up wasn’t difficult.
However, one by one, the movements we had to remember kept piling up.
“Okay, as you step with your left foot, bring your right foot this way… and keep your body angled like this.”
At first, it was easy.
I just had to follow along, right? Even memorizing the steps was doable.
I may not look it, but I’m pretty confident when it comes to using my brain.
But… as time went on, the moves increased, and my energy started depleting fast.
“Okay, left foot….”
“Gasp….”
“Now, right foot….”
“Huff….”
With each sequence, I was sweating as if it were raining, and my vision grew blurry.
Is dancing… always this exhausting? I’m starting to admire dancers.
It’s impressive that everyone else is handling this intense workout so well.
“Uh… Miro?”
It’s incredible, really.
Someone like me, an ordinary person, is struggling even with the basics….
“Excuse me?”
“Huh? Yes?”
When did she call me? Now that I think about it, everyone around me is staring at me.
Whew… haven’t they ever seen someone exhausted before?
And yet, although they’re all slightly out of breath, no one else seems as drained as I am.
…Why? Am I really this unfit?
“Um… could you come over here for a moment?”
Seeing me struggle, the instructor called me to one side of the lesson room.
“Just wait here for a bit.”
With that, she left, telling me to wait a moment.
What’s going on… is there some special method she’s bringing?
Unless it’s some miraculous stamina booster only dancers have, my energy isn’t coming back anytime soon…
For now, I took a seat, drank an electrolyte drink, and rested.
Phew, I feel a bit better after a break.
Honestly, I just want to lie down here. My heart is still pounding, and I feel like I need more rest….
But before long, the instructor returned.
“Sorry for the wait.”
“Oh, no, you came back quickly.”
“I just had to go to the car… here, take this.”
The instructor handed me something she had fetched from her car.
“Uh, a jump rope?”
Indeed, what she brought was a jump rope. Why did she bring this?
“Your stamina isn’t very strong, so I think you’ll need to build it up before learning the moves.”
“Oh, haha.”
Well, maybe this is actually a good thing?
“…Understood.”
And so, I was excused from the first class and spent it in the corner, jump-roping.
…At least this is manageable.
