Now That I Have Become a Woman, I Am a Vtuber - Chapter 16

The Collaboration

After the Celestial Project audition ended, I began preparing in earnest for my debut.

First, I filled out the contract remotely and, during a group meeting with the manager I had met when I visited the company last time, I also got an overall plan for how my debut would proceed.

The schedule was quite tight.

We started with recording the debut song, then we had to do a showcase, and there were also plans for advertisements through collaborations with famous streamers from The Six, the agency I belonged to.

One fortunate thing was that the company seemed determined to push me forward, and one of the ways was through an avatar.

“Is this my avatar?”

[Yes, that’s correct.]

I stared at the avatar moving on the monitor.

While my previous avatar had also been purchased at a considerable price, this one was much more advanced. Not only did it recognize my face and change expressions accordingly, but the quality had also improved significantly.

The light pink hair was glossy, and the pure white face looked even more lively than before.

As I contemplated the endless pursuit of quality while staring blankly at my avatar, the manager who had now become my manager spoke through the headphones.

[And it looks like the debut song will be completed by tomorrow. I’ll connect you with the composer, so you need to start recording.]

I was speechless upon hearing that.

A debut song! I knew it was coming, but now that I had actually passed the audition, it felt real.

“I’m… nervous.”

[Haha, you’ll do great. Oh, and this is a secret, but…]

As the manager spoke, pausing as if to tell a secret, I chuckled nervously.

“What is it?”

[Don’t tell anyone else, but I heard the composer is looking forward to you.]

“Really? Why?”

[He said he really likes your voice.]

“Wow, really?”

My smile widened at the praise from a professional composer.

“I guess I need to throw away the remaining cigarettes.”

I had been keeping them well even after gradually quitting, but now that things were going this way, I had no choice but to discard them.

It was a relief that there hadn’t been much change in my voice since becoming a woman. I couldn’t ruin the fun of practicing singing with smoking.

[Anyway, I think there will be good results. Then, I’ll have to go to someone else to deliver the avatar.]

“Wouldn’t it be better to give them all at once?”

[Receiving a gift alone is the most pleasant way.]

“I see…”

[Well then, good luck. I’ll leave now since I have to deliver the avatar to others too.]

I absentmindedly stared at the ceiling, lost in thought.

I had been worried when I first became a woman, but now the day of recording my debut song was approaching, and I was overwhelmed with emotions.

How much time had passed as I stared at the ceiling lost in my thoughts?

My phone started vibrating.

Ring, ring-

Messages were quickly piling up in the Celestial Project winners’ group chat.

They must have all heard that the debut song was coming out.

After the first meeting last time, we have been having group calls and exchanging messages non-stop. It’s only been a few days, but we all seem to have become quite close.

Our ages are roughly similar, and we have similar jobs, so we have plenty of topics to talk about.

Moreover, being a VTuber is a lonely job, isn’t it? It seems like everyone is happy to have found people who are like-minded. Of course, I’m also actively exchanging messages to get close with my colleagues.

Even now, when I entered the group chat to reply, the topic had already changed to the broadcast.

(Ma Hohyun [Maho]): Can I say that we’re recording our debut song in today’s collab?

(Anna [Anna]): Wasn’t today’s collab specifically for that?

(Han Nari [Haru]): Excited for the debut song hehe

(Kim Ahrin [Roa]): What’s with that way of speaking?

(Han Nari [Haru]): Learn the culture of mainland seniors

(Kim Ahrin [Roa]): (trembling bear emoticon)

(Ma Hohyun [Maho]): Right, Suhyun, can I say that when we collab?

As I scrolled down the conversation, the most recent message was calling me.

(Me): What’s up?

I asked what was going on, and the reply came quickly.

(Ma Hohyun [Maho]): When we first met, you sang a song! I want to brag about it to the viewers!

(Me): ᄋᄋ It’s fine.

Of course, it doesn’t matter.

Wasn’t that just a passing remark? If you tell me, I should be grateful.

(Ma Hohyun [Maho]): I asked because Suhyun doesn’t sing well on broadcasts!

(Me): (thumbs up emoticon)

(Han Nari [Haru]): What? Then I want to say too

(Anna [Anna]): I’ll say it first~

However, it seemed like the other colleagues were also watching each other, as they came to ask for permission and left after a suitable reply, I wore my coat and went out.

There are still a few hours left before the collab starts, so I should go eat something before then.

I ate a hearty meal at a new tonkatsu restaurant instead of the usual pork cutlet place and bought some snacks before heading home. When I returned home, I saw everyone gathered on the Celestial project Decko channel.

“We still have an hour before the collab starts?”

The preparations were done by the company, so we just need to turn on the broadcast 30 minutes before and chat with the prepared streamers before playing the game.

But why are they all gathered? I put on my headset and went in to find out why.

[No, delete that too!]

[Oh, uh.. Yes!]

[Hurry! There’s only one hour left!]

It looks like Roa is still struggling with installing the game, and the remaining members are gathered together, apparently giving her a hard time.

[Oh? Miro, you’re here?]

“Yes, have you still not installed it?”

[Oh, are you kidding me? She’s totally clueless about computers! But it’s almost done!]

“Um… Hang in there. I should go get some snacks.”

[Huh? Isn’t that too nonchalant?]

“When there are too many chefs, the soup is spoiled.”

With that said, after ending the call and finishing the broadcast setup, I lay down and read a few martial arts novels. Time flew by, and it was time for the broadcast.

[The King of Singers Labyrinth (Phoenix Dragon Club) Participate]

-Hehehe

-Miha

-Finally turned it on

-What’s the Phoenix Dragon Club again?

_______

“Oh, the Phoenix Dragon Club is an event where martial arts enthusiasts gather, known as the ‘Dragon and Phoenix Club.’ It’s called the Dragon and Phoenix Club because ‘dragon’ represents men and ‘phoenix’ represents women…”

_______

-Can’t you guys just keep our mouths shut?

-The avatar quality got better

_______

“Anyway, we’re having a joint broadcast today! Wow, now that I’ve passed the audition, we finally have a joint broadcast schedule.”

_______

-What? Joint broadcast?

-Is it a guy?

-Hmm..

_______

Ah, these guys… The atmosphere gets tense when they’re doing a joint broadcast with a guy. They’ve always been like that with everyone, but are they serious about me?

“Well, since we still have some time, shall I tell you what I did while we weren’t broadcasting?”

_______

-Let’s just play a game of LoL ᄋᄋ

-Did you level up kkkk?

_______

“I played a few games of hehe, but not many.”

[Master Miro, thank you for the 10,000 won donation!]

-So what did you do during the break???

“Thank you for the 10,000 won donation! What break? We had a meeting to plan our schedule after passing the audition, listened to things, set things up, and so on. That’s why my avatar changed. Isn’t it pretty? Look, it recognizes facial expressions.”

With that, she shook her head and made various facial expressions, which were reflected by her character. Proudly admiring her well-drawn avatar, she logged into the game in advance.

“Today’s game is Royal Ground. You all know it, right?”

Battle Royale.

A battle royale game where players farm guns and fight each other inside a slowly shrinking circle to determine the final winner.

“We have 6 members, right? Let’s roughly divide into 3 teams, and one famous streamer from Doseik will join each team.”

_________

-Who are they and why are they joining??

-Miro… my horn hurts… Miro… my horn hurts… Miro… my horn hurts… Miro… my horn hurts…

_________

“Why are you so worked up? Don’t provoke them needlessly when the game starts later. I might get dragged into it and get cursed at too.”

_________

-Just a clueless person from outside…

-As you requested~

-Let’s go~ Let’s go~ Let’s go~ Let’s go~

_________

“If you get caught saying weird things in the chat, we’ll ban you in our chat room as well.”

Even though it’s just chatting, it still made me anxious, so I decided to take a strict approach and immediately ban anyone who acts up in the chat, and then the chat room became quiet.

“It seems they only listen when you raise the stick.”

[ᄋᄋ, thank you for the 1,000 won donation!]

-They’re not animals, please apologize quickly for mentioning a stick.

“Thank you for the thousand won donation. Now, let’s go into the voice chat room.”

As I casually looked around the chat room, bypassing viewer donations, I noticed that two other streamers from The Six, whom I had already agreed to collaborate with today, were already in the room.

Ding-

“Hello.”

With a cheerful connecting sound, I entered the chat room.

[Oh, Miro is here!]

“Hi, hi.”

[Ah! Nice to meet you, Miro! I’m Battle Royale streamer Hangal.]

[I’m Nadan.]

Hangal and Nadan.

Both are streamers from The Six who agreed to collaborate today.

Since we hadn’t met before, this was our first conversation.

“Yes, nice to meet you both.”

Honestly, I didn’t think much of these two.

Both have tens of thousands of subscribers, but well, I’m only going to see them once today anyway.

“Now that we’re all here, shall we start?”

Hangal mostly led the proceedings. Being the most well-known and articulate among us, he naturally led the atmosphere.

“Have you all had experience with Battle Royale?”

“Oh, yes! We all have some experience.”

Anna replied on behalf of us. She’s the oldest sister among us and quite popular, so it was a natural result.

We then had some time for members to introduce themselves or chat lightly, easing the atmosphere. When the mood was relaxed enough, we randomly drew to determine the teams.

“Alright, Maho, Haru, and Miro are on Hangal’s team.”

“Then, Anna, Mile, and Roa are on Nadan’s team.”

Two invited streamers with plenty of Battle Royale experience and skill each led a team. The game format was to play a game together and the team that came in first would win.

“Let’s move to separate chat rooms.”

As the group split in half, the atmosphere became a bit quieter.

“So, are you all confident?”

Hangal couldn’t stand the quiet atmosphere and spoke first, and I confidently replied to lighten the mood.

“Oh, yes, I am confident.”

“Oh, really? To what extent?”

“I’m so good that if you pull out any random player, you won’t feel a gap.”

Battle Royale is a very famous game.

In other words, both male Kim Suhyun and female Kim Suhyun have played the game.

Moreover, I’m quite confident in my gaming skills. Aren’t I in the top 3% in League of Legends?

Since I also play ADC, it’s valid to say that I’m good at FPS games.

“Great. Let’s give it a try!”

Did my confident statement sound good?

With Hangal’s enthusiastic words, the collaboration began in earnest.
