Now That I Have Become a Woman, I Am a Vtuber - Chapter 111
Korea - 1The rehearsal and the main recording went smoothly—no mistakes or no goes at all.
For a top star like Han Hyejin, two songs on stage were a piece of cake.
Of course, my flawless performance wasn’t just because I imagined myself as a superstar. It was thanks to relentless practice.
Thinking you’re amazing doesn’t suddenly make you talented—that would be the stuff of hypnotists.
However, relaxing and building confidence can do wonders.
After the recording, Tenshi looked at me in amazement and asked,
“Wow… Suhyun, you’re incredible under pressure, aren’t you?”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Haha! Not at all.”
“But… you were completely different from how you were during practice!”
Oh, was she that surprised?
Well, this is what they call a devil’s talent.
An angel like Tenshi wouldn’t understand.
“You were like a totally different person!”
I gave a sheepish laugh in response.
Honestly, maybe acting is my hidden talent. It feels like I’m even better at it than singing or drawing.
“At least we finished recording in one day,” I said, feeling relieved.
“Right! So, shall we go have some fun now?”
“Uh…”
Tenshi’s suggestion came a little late—the sky was already darkening.
“Even just dinner will take us into the night,” I pointed out.
“Oh… eto… tomorrow then?”
“Sure. I’ve got nothing planned for tomorrow.”
I’d cleared my schedule completely. Not that I ever had much of a schedule to begin with.
“Great! Tomorrow it is!”
“Alright, but let’s start with dinner now.”
“Yes! I’ve been craving samgyeopsal!”
Samgyeopsal, huh…
I wasn’t a food connoisseur, but there was a decent place near my house.
Tenshi had shown me around local spots in Japan; now it was my turn.
But my house was in the outskirts of Seoul—not exactly convenient for a tourist.
“By the way, where are you staying?”
Come to think of it, where had she booked her hotel? She was a famous VTuber, so it had to be somewhere fancy, right?
“What? Oh, I haven’t booked anything yet!”
…She hadn’t booked a hotel?
Is she secretly a free spirit?
Not that I could judge—my travel plans were often just as improvised.
“Well, if you don’t mind… want to stay at my place?”
“Huh?”
“It’s convenient since we have plans tomorrow. But if you’d prefer a hotel…”
“No, staying at your place sounds great!”
“Uh… just so you know, my parents live there too. Is that okay?”
“Y-your parents…”
I started to wonder if this was too much. She came to Korea to relax, not to deal with someone else’s family.
But instead of hesitating, she shook her head firmly.
“I don’t mind at all!”
“You’re sure?”
My dad probably wouldn’t care, but my mom was a bit overbearing. She’d likely fuss over Tenshi, which could be annoying.
“Absolutely!”
Well, if she didn’t mind, who was I to argue?
We returned to my neighborhood together.
“Oh… this area has its own charm,” Tenshi remarked.
Leaving behind the bustling cityscape of Seoul, we arrived at the quieter outskirts. Tenshi seemed to appreciate the change of atmosphere.
I could understand—when I visited Japan, I wanted to experience the local vibe. For someone who loved Korea, this must have been just as refreshing.
“Is this your hometown, Suhyun?”
“Sort of. I went to elementary, middle, and high school here.”
“Really…”
She looked at me with a curious expression.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Oh, I was just imagining little Suhyun in elementary school!”
“Well, yeah, I was a kid once… obviously.”
Was there something weird about me?
Okay, maybe just a little.
“What were you like in school? I bet you were fun to be around!”
School, huh?
She must’ve been asking about the “female Suhyun.”
“Honestly? Probably not very fun. I didn’t talk much.”
“Really? But I bet you were super popular!”
Well, yeah. That part was true.
“I was popular, sure.”
“Then why didn’t you talk much? You’re so chatty now!”
Female Suhyun’s lack of social skills… I could answer that easily.
“When you’re that popular without trying, why bother talking?”
“Ugh! That’s so annoying!”
People as pretty as me are often romanticized no matter what.
If you’re aloof, you’re seen as elegant.
If you’re quiet, you’re considered graceful.
If you’re outgoing, you’re charming and approachable.
Even now, Tenshi frowned at my response, but then glanced at me and nodded as if she understood.
“Life really isn’t fair…”
Unfair? Could she say that, though?
I glanced at Tenshi walking beside me.
Her sleek lavender hair, petite figure, and beautiful face must’ve stolen plenty of hearts.
“Ah, here we are.”
“This is it?”
“Yeah.”
The restaurant we arrived at wasn’t anything fancy—just a bustling local BBQ joint.
“Oh…”
In other words, it had an authentic, homey vibe.
We stepped inside, picked a table, and started looking at the menu.
“Are you drinking tonight?”
In Korea, BBQ and alcohol go hand in hand, so I asked, and she nodded eagerly.
“Yes! I want to try soju!”
“Alright then…”
I ordered a mix of food and drinks, and soon, the sizzling samgyeopsal arrived.
“I’ll cook for us.”
“Oh… are you good at it?”
“Well, good enough to eat.”
Female Suhyun had never grilled meat before—she never needed to.
But male Suhyun? That was a different story.
The meat sizzled on the hot grill, turning from pink to golden brown.
I cut it into bite-sized pieces, flipped them, and made sure they were cooked evenly.
“Wow…”
Tenshi watched the whole process in awe.
Didn’t Japan have yakiniku? Why was she so impressed?
“Alright, it’s ready to eat.”
“Thank you!”
I placed a piece on her plate. She dipped it in sauce and took a bite.
“Wow, it’s delicious!”
“Glad you like it.”
I poured us some soju.
“Let’s have a drink.”
“Oh! You’re pouring it for me?”
“Consider it an honor.”
“Of course!”
With that, I poured soju into her glass, then filled my own.
“When was the last time I drank…? During my Japan trip, maybe?”
“Cheers!”
We clinked glasses and took a sip.
“Ugh… it’s bitter.”
“Not a fan?”
“A little…”
Yeah, soju was an acquired taste. I still didn’t understand why adults found it enjoyable.
“Eat some meat to chase it down.”
“Okay!”
She quickly grabbed another piece of meat, looking like a little hamster as she nibbled.
Something about her made me want to feed her more.
I wrapped some meat in lettuce, added two slices of garlic, and handed it to her.
“Say ah.”
“Ahh…”
She took the bite, giggling as she chewed.
Before I could prepare my own, she grabbed the lettuce from my hand and started wrapping a bite for me.
“Wow, a lettuce wrap from vtuber Murasaki Tenshi. This is special.”
“Here you go!”
Her wrap looked oversized. Did she put in too much meat?
Still, I couldn’t refuse her first attempt, so I took it and managed to fit it in my mouth.
“How is it?” she asked, stifling a laugh.
By the time I finished chewing, she had already poured us another round of soju.
“Another toast?”
“Sure.”
We clinked glasses again, sharing smiles and laughter as the night deepened.
After getting thoroughly drunk, I went home, only to be greeted by my mom’s wrath and a stinging smack on my back. But that’s a story for another time.
