Seoul Dragon - Chapter 41
There wasn't much I could do about my sister being caught up in a romantic drama.
Actually, I'd step in for most things, but this kind of situation...
My sister isn't some naive girl, and I trust she'll handle it well.
If things get serious, she'll surely call me.
This level of politics, well, you can just ignore it.
The problem would be if physical force came into play... but surely no one would resort to violence over a romantic drama.
But then again, who knows.
I wonder how this situation will unfold.
I don't need to worry about the poor but stupid guy who's bothering my sister, but the problem is the girl who likes that stupid guy.
Jealousy is one of the emotions that most easily paralyzes human rationality.
My sister's going to have a tough time.
I'll only step in as the absolute last resort. As long as there's no physical violence, I won't need to get involved.
After all, my sister isn't the type to care if people talk behind her back.
Her nerves are as thick as steel cables, so she'll just brush off political maneuvers or gossip as long as there's no direct harm.
But the bottom layer always has another layer beneath it, and I'm not sure how a crystallization of creepiness and jealousy will manifest.
If there's one scenario where my sister might explode, it's when someone messes with people she's close to. She may be different from me in almost every way, but she's strikingly similar in that one aspect.
She must have a classmate she's close with, and if someone messes with that classmate... well, I'll pray for their souls. I just hope I won't need to step in.
Seriously, watching my sister get entangled in a romantic drama.
How blind must someone be to like a girl like her?
After a hectic week, the day finally arrived.
Time for the activity.
The paragliding expedition led by Yoo Hangyeol.
And so, we're now in a car heading to Danyang, Chungbuk.
Of course, Hangyeol is at the wheel. I'm just sitting in the passenger seat.
There was no particular need for me to be in this car, but this is the good stuff.
Blasting music in the car and chatting loudly is secretly quite fun.
When traveling with people I'm not particularly close to, I usually just put in earphones and listen to music quietly, but when I'm with close friends, I can spout all kinds of nonsense without holding back.
At times like this, even I become chatty.
"I've been having headaches because of my sister lately."
"Your sister? Why?"
"I don't know. She's caught up in some weird romantic drama."
"Romantic drama...?"
"You know, like those stories that get posted on online communities? There's a guy who likes her, but she doesn't like him back so she's keeping her distance, and then there's a girl who likes that guy."
"Ah... I know what you mean. Your sister is in that situation now?"
"Yeah. I was trying not to worry about it... but something feels off."
"But it's not like you can do anything about it, right?"
"That's why it's giving me a headache."
"Won't she just ignore it and pretend those people don't exist?"
"I think so too, but romantic dramas are notorious for creating the most chaotic situations."
"Are you a siscon or something?"
"What's with the sudden siscon accusation?"
"You're clearly worried about your sister."
"I'm not worried about her, I'm worried about the people who might mess with her. My sister is also one of the people around me, so she falls under my protection."
"Protection...?"
"Yeah. Oh, I didn't give these to you guys yet? Here, take them."
With those words, I handed over brooches to the guys.
"What's this brooch?"
"It will protect you in emergencies. This is what I'm worried about. If someone tries to harm the person wearing this in any way, something hidden inside will appear and put that person in a state of cardiac arrest."
"...Cardiac arrest? What the hell is this? Where did you get it from?"
"I'm the director of the Eradication Agency, remember? There's a vampire who works with me at the agency, and it's her ability."
"That's terrifying... So you're worried about innocent people going into cardiac arrest?"
"Exactly."
"Then... wouldn't it be better to just leave it alone? They'll sort things out among themselves, either fighting or making up."
"I guess so?"
"And if they had any sense, would they mess with your sister? Unless they're completely insane, they wouldn't dare touch her, right?"
"...That's true."
"So just don't worry about it. Whatever they do, it'll probably just amount to gossiping behind her back."
Hangyeol's words beside me were similar to what I was thinking.
I wondered if I was being overly sensitive... well, that must be the normal reaction.
But still, that uneasy feeling won't go away.
"By the way, what are you really going to do? Are you going paragliding?"
"Um... I'll just ride it quietly."
"Why?"
"Think about it. If I spread my wings and fly around there, wouldn't I just be a nuisance to the paragliders? It could be dangerous..."
"You're right."
"Right? So I'm just going to ride it normally. It could be a new kind of fun too, right?"
"Sure."
Putting my uneasiness aside, we chatted while listening to music, and before we knew it, we arrived in Danyang, Chungbuk.
It took about two hours, I think?
Arriving in Danyang wasn't the end of it.
It also took quite some time to reach the paragliding site.
After about an hour,
We finally arrived at the paragliding site by car.
"Ah, that was long...!"
"Thanks for driving."
"Hey, next time we go somewhere, you guys should get driver's licenses too, okay? Holding the wheel for over three hours feels like I'm going to die."
"I don't really need a license."
When I mentioned that I don't need a driver's license because I have wings, Hangyeol's expression turned grim.
"...I'm seriously going to kill you."
"Alright, alright. Don't look at me like that, jerk. I'll get one if I have to, okay? But why are you only nagging me? Hey, Han Taehoon, Jo Minhyuk, Heo Jihwan. Aren't you guys getting licenses?"
"I will?"
"Well, of course I will in due time."
"I already have one."
"Okay, then Minhyuk, you drive on the way back."
"Hey, isn't this your car though?"
"Do I care? You drive. I'm exhausted."
"Fine, fine."
After some minor bickering, we took in the majestic mountain scenery and moved to the reserved shop to rent equipment.
We put on various safety gear, reviewed safety procedures... and after completing preparations, we put on paragliding suits.
It's not particularly necessary for me, but it's different for my classmates.
Still... if they get in danger, I can just save them, right?
Anyway, while waiting at the launch site, the paragliding instructor arrived.
"Wow, I never thought I'd see someone I've seen on TV here."
"Ahahaha... Hello."
"But what's a dragon lady doing here? Someone who can naturally fly..."
"I just came with my classmates. And the feeling is different from when I fly on my own, right?"
"Haha! That's right, that's right. Anyway, did you sign up for the body cam?"
"I did."
"Great. You heard all the explanations earlier, right?"
"Yes."
"Then, we'll start with the dragon lady. Let's go!"
Sticking close to the instructor, I ran toward the slightly sloped cliff from the launch site. Of course, since it would be a disaster if I ran at full speed, I matched the instructor's pace.
And a jump from the cliff edge.
Flying through the sky via paragliding was somehow a new feeling. It was a bit different from when I spread my wings and flew.
It was like... yes, it felt like sitting in the sky.
"Wow..."
The wind hitting and passing by my ears felt better than I expected. So this is why people paraglide.
When I landed after paragliding was over, the guys shared their impressions with much excitement.
"Wow, it's really amazing. I want to ride again someday."
"Didn't it feel like sitting in the sky?"
"Exactly."
"It's fun, really fun. Worth the money."
"What do you want to do? Should we go back now, or hang out at a café for a bit longer?"
"Since we've come all this way, let's chitchat at a café. The view looked pretty good too."
"Okay... Then let's take the shuttle up there."
"Yes."
So we took the shuttle back up to the mountain top, ordered coffee and desserts at a café, and thoroughly shared our impressions of paragliding.
While we were doing that...
Suddenly, my eyes caught sight of an instructor and a customer on a paraglider, their movements seeming dangerously unstable.
Did they get caught in a turbulence?
Without even time to tell my classmates, I hurriedly stood up from my seat.
"Huh? What's wrong?"
If left alone, they would fall immediately. There was no time to waste.
I didn't even answer Minhyuk's question and immediately moved my legs, going outside the café.
I could feel the gazes of people around looking at me.
But now wasn't the time to worry about that.
Right away, I spread my wings and flew toward the instructor and customer caught in the turbulence.
The scenery around me passed by frantically, and the precarious instructor and customer I had seen earlier were being tossed around by the turbulence and falling.
It was a heart-stopping moment where I could see at a glance that they had lost control, and there weren't even trees or anything below to catch them, so if they fell in this state, both would die instantly.
Without delay, I flapped my wings toward the two. As the distance gradually closed, I slowly reduced my accelerated speed and grabbed the two people who were slowly falling.
"Are you okay?"
"Huh, huhhh..."
"I, I thought we were going to die..."
Both the instructor and the customer seemed clearly out of their minds.
Well, that's natural.
They were on the brink of death and miraculously survived.
I guided the two people to land at the launch site.
For now, they needed to set foot on the ground to calm down.
