[TS] The Return of The Gamer - Chapter 8

A New Beginning

A lot happened.

Among them, the most significant thing was, of course, the matter of my status.

I became a woman overnight.

No matter how much my family believed my words and the fact that the genetic test also confirmed that I was Lee Yu-jin, the legally recorded Lee Yu-jin was still a man.

Even though I was clearly me, Lee Yu-jin was no longer entirely my status.

In Korean society, one's status is important.

No matter what you do, you need your status and resident registration number, and this was essential for me as I was about to start a new life.

Therefore, there were several ways for me to obtain a new status.

The first was to become a person without a registered family, using my parents as guarantors to obtain a completely new status.

It's a straightforward method. I considered this option after some investigations at first, but it was canceled due to my parents' opposition.

There were various reasons, but the main reason was this.

"You are Mom and Dad's child. A person without a registered family? Not a chance."

In short, even if it was a status that only appeared legally, they wouldn't let me become someone without biological parents.

Even if I went through the adoption process later, it would mean I wouldn't be a biological child in the family register.

The second was to apply for a gender reassignment as Lee Yu-jin based on the genetic test results and my parents' testimony.

I thought my parents wouldn't object to this, but I was mistaken.

"No."

They didn't tell me the specific reason.

They just added this.

"It's for you, Yujin."

There was no need to ask about any illegal methods.

"Mom and Dad will take care of it, so just stay put."

So, I stayed put.

"I've made a bone broth, so heat it up and eat it. Okay? Don't skip meals. Mom has somewhere to go. Dad will be late too."

My parents were moving around very busily, as if it wasn't for nothing that they told me to stay still.

"Yes, yes. Thank you for your help."

They mobilized all kinds of connections and, if necessary, spent a considerable amount of money, I heard.

I heard that the amount of money spent, knowingly or unknowingly, exceeded the price of a house…….

The change of my status that was made in this way was a bit unusual.

I was Lee Yu-jin, my parents' child, and at the same time, only my gender had changed.

It wasn't just a matter of applying for gender reassignment.

It went through a much more complex, troublesome, and even seemingly unnecessary process.

I heard that my gender was originally treated as intersex, and then, based on the opinion of the attending physician, the gender was corrected as an error, rather than a change…….

I don't know much about this, as it was a very complicated story.

"But, what about the attending physician's opinion? I've never been to the hospital?"

"Just know it like that."

It was the part where I thought I knew where the price of a house had gone.

If I were a person subject to active duty, the Military Manpower Administration would have been involved in this process, making things very difficult, but fortunately, I was originally exempt from the draft, so it didn't go that far.

I heard it was just a matter of submitting a few documents.

It was possible because I had a rare disease that had never happened before, and I was also a person who didn't engage in any external activities.

In conclusion, I didn't change from a man to a woman, but I became someone who had lived as a woman but was unable to properly determine their gender due to a rare disease, so their gender was incorrectly recorded as male.

Honestly, I wondered if it was necessary to go this far.

"What's the difference? Isn't it the same?"

"You'll see later."

My parents seemed to be worried about the social labels that might stick to me in the future.

A person without a registered family, an orphan, a transgender person, a liar, and so on…….

‘Well.’

It's a world where all sorts of pasts come out as soon as your face becomes slightly known.

No matter what kind of life I would live in the future, my parents were the ones who worried about me more than anyone else, so they must have taken care of things a little too much.

"Yujin, what do you want to name yourself?"

My name…….

I hesitated for a moment and then answered.

"I like it just the way it is. It's not a name that feels awkward, even if I use it as a woman."

I didn't feel the need to change it, as I didn't have any relationships to speak of other than my family.

No one would recognize me if I were to reveal my name as Lee Yu-jin with this face.

"Okay, let's do that."

My parents didn't mind the name either, as if it was fine.

Or maybe that's what they'd been thinking from the start.

Because it felt as if, if my name were to change now, there would be almost no proof that I was my parents' child.

"You can expect it to take about three months to submit and process these kinds of documents. It might take longer if it's late."

Three months.

About 90 days.

It felt like an excessively short amount of time to end a person's life, but I wasn't particularly disappointed, knowing that it wasn't the end.

"Okay."

Instead of answering, my mother gave a light smile and started walking busy again.

As my mother left the room, I slowly turned my gaze to the monitor.

"...Three months."

As Lee Yu-jin, there was nothing to sort out.

I was always alone.

But it's different online.

I've made quite a few connections online until now.

In other words, I have to cut off all the connections I've made online at least until three months from now.

I feel a strange feeling.

It's just an online connection, after all…….

The feeling was strange.

‘I could stay like this... but I've already taken the pro test as Prisoner.’

The results were terrible, but the information about Prisoner became a rumor and spread widely because of it.

In order for me to live a new life, I also have to end the life of Prisoner.

‘If I hadn't taken the pro test, I wouldn't have to... No. There's no need to regret it.’

Even if the Prisoner's information hadn't spread, I would have had to create a new ID with a new status to become a pro, so I would have created a new ID anyway.

So, at the point where I became a woman, the life of Prisoner was bound to end someday.

Solo Rank 1st, Prisoner.

Amateur Rank 1st, Prisoner.

I now have to end the fame that has always been my pride with my own hands.

And if I'm going to end it anyway, I want to have the best ending as Prisoner.

Fortunately, there was time.

"...Okay."

The remaining time is three months.

I will decorate the best finale during that time.

*

How should I decorate the best finale as Prisoner?

In fact, the answer was already as good as decided.

Solo Rank Warrior, Prisoner.

There was only one thing that Prisoner could do.

[Game found!]

[Accept / Reject]

"Accept, of course."

"Oh."

The last pick.

And the last pick for the red team at that.

There's a saying.

The blue team's first pick is the most important,

The red team's last pick is the most important.

In this case, it was no exaggeration to say that the result of this game depended on which pick I would choose.

‘The problem is that the allied solo laners are the first picks...’

In this case, the reaction is usually similar.

[The slave of jungler: Jungler, are you able to swap?]

Hmm, as expected.

The slave of jungler.

Even though that's his ID, he's a top laner.

And I know one more thing.

His original nickname is MYE LaLaLa.

He is a pro gamer from MYE.

As you can tell from the nickname, The slave of jungler, he actually has a play style where LaLaLa clears the line first, then he doesn't pressure the opposing laner more, but mainly helps the allied jungler or gains vision of the opposing jungler.

Unlike other top players, he contributes significantly from a team perspective, so I thought it wouldn't be bad to give in.

I looked at the ban.

[Ban list]

Rumble / Kaisa

Graves / Yumi

Morgana / Sylas

Kaisa / Zoe

Aatrox / Shaco

I should say it's fortunate, the pick is still available.

[Prisoner: Give me Lissandra]

Nothing beats this for the first pick.

[The slave of jungler: Thanks, thanks]

Above all, it wasn't a bad choice as I've been having a lot of fun with Lissandra recently.

- I must go there.

As soon as Lissandra was picked and the pick went to the opposing team, the opposing jungler pick came out.

-Kyeaek.

Rek'Sai.

A traditional counter to Lissandra, but depending on Lissandra's proficiency, it's a matchup that can go up to a 50/50.

Of course, that's just a thing of the past, the current Lissandra is OP because of its level, so there's no counter or anything.

The ban pick proceeded, and finally, it was my turn.

[The slave of jungler: Lissandra, can I play Lissandra?]

Lissandra is a hot OP champion in the top lane right now.

It was something I'd fully expected, and there was no reason for me to refuse, as I didn't have any problems with it.

[Prisoner: Yep]

[The slave of jungler: Thank you]

This was the first pick effect of an OP champion that could swap lanes.

‘It's this, in times like this.’

Without hesitation, I picked Kindred.

-Run or fight, the result is the same!

Kindred.

If Rek'Sai is a traditional counter to Lissandra, Kindred is a long-standing counter to Rek'Sai.

However, unlike the matchup of Lissandra vs. Rek'Sai, where Rek'Sai shows a slight advantage with about 4.5 vs. 5.5, Kindred vs. Rek'Sai shows an extreme matchup of 6 vs. 4, or even 6.5 vs. 3.5.

This guy, he's probably gonna want to dodge.
