[TS] The Return of The Gamer - Chapter 72

Placement Matches

For every user of Legend of League, or rather, for any user aiming to climb the ranks, there comes a crucial moment that cannot be avoided.

In that moment, some people laugh,

and others cry.

People refer to that moment, which makes them feel like they have bipolar disorder, as an important test that comes every year.

The placement exam, they call it.

From now on, it was a very important test I had to take, which, in a way, would determine the direction of my future game count.

Of course, some might say that the placement exam isn't that important.

Because, in the end, a tier level tends to find its place as the number of games increases.

But,

that's only if you casually enjoy Legend of League.

My goal is to become a professional.

Therefore, it was better to raise the tier level as quickly as possible, and whether that time was drastically shortened or lengthened depended a lot on the placement exam.

If I were to have any kind of accident in the placement exam, the journey to a higher tier could be infinitely long.

‘I don’t intend to half-ass it.’

The full-fledged placement exam began.

The first placement.

What greeted me at that thrilling moment was nothing else.

‘ADC.’

I got ADC from the first match.

I had set jungle as my main position, but I had put the sub position as 'any', so this happened.

‘Unexpected.’

Usually, when you queue with [Jungle/any], you tend to get jungle or support.

That's why I had set the position like that without much thought, but I didn't expect to get ADC from the first placement.

‘Well, whatever.’

Originally, ADC was the position I was least confident in.

Since I had some overlap in champion selection with top and mid, and also my understanding of the lane wasn't bad, I did alright, and

support was also not bad because the role itself was somewhat similar to the jungle.

The problem was ADC.

A relatively unfamiliar position, bottom, and the required abilities are completely different, you could say it's the opposite of jungle.

Naturally, I, who had always been far from physical-type champions, am not good at ADC.

To be exact, I wasn't good.

‘But now it's different.’

The fact that I couldn't play ADC is a distant memory.

Now? ADC or whatever, I'm just good at Legend of League.

It might sound a little arrogant, but it's true.

[Ezreal]

I quietly brought up Ezreal's portrait.

Ezreal is the champion most often chosen by players in other positions when they go ADC, and it was the same for me.

Even if you are confident in ADC, champion proficiency is another story.

‘And Ezreal is also the most fun.’

After the early game and when you get the 2nd core item, the feeling of Ezreal... is one of the charms that draws players who don't have ADC as their main position to ADC.

In fact, one of the reasons I chose 'any' was because I sometimes wanted to play various champions like this.

Then, as the ban-pick progressed.

[Agalhamtearbarara: 3rd pick, you're a smurf]

[Agalhamtearbarara: Can you go jungle?]

…Oh.

Actually, this isn't a rare occurrence.

As I said before, the placement exam is one of the most important tests for Legend of League users, along with the promotion match.

Naturally, the users who participate in this also have to be somewhat serious.

This kind of concession is also one of the characteristics shown by users who are thirsty for victory.

They don't hesitate to get carried by someone who is presumed to be a smurf within the team if it's for victory.

[Outlaw: I don't mind]

It wouldn't be right to refuse when they're so desperately asking to be carried like that.

[Agalhamtearbarara: Ok, go jungle]

Well… that's the type who would, after all that, say things like, "I should have gone jungle" in the in-game chat if I did a little bad.

‘But I don't intend to let that happen.’

The game began.

[Victory]

I don't know if it's because I've been enjoying normal games so dynamically, but the placement exam difficulty that greeted me for the first time was literally so easy.

[Agalhamtearbarara: Jungle pick was a godsend, right? Right?]

[LuruluLuruluLurulu: Wow, thanks for the carry]

[SY Gosu: He's carrying the game by himself;;]

[ZiggsCusCusCus11: Our jungler is D2 lol kek]

[Iammanofurmom: Smurf?]

[wqe8jqw5irt: Dirty boosting ㅗㅗ]

I received high praise from both allies and enemies, and I left the lobby.

Well, of course.

From the opposing team's perspective, it was like being hit by a truck out of nowhere.

‘Easier than I thought.’

When I think about it, it was obvious.

The temporary tier I was assigned after my first placement exam victory was Gold 3.

Considering that the normal game section I was in before was such a terrible environment where SY 5 people were matched against, there was no paradise like this.

‘Well, it’s still good for the first placement considering I didn't have any previous records.’

On average, the temporary tier that comes out when you do your first placement exam with a smurf account is usually Silver, based on victory.

Because the result that comes out is about that much when people do AI games and normal games in parallel, which is what they call "farming".

In that sense, the fact that my first temporary tier is Gold 3 means that my 100% win rate in normal games had a significant impact on my placement exam.

‘If I win the remaining 9 games... at least I'll be in Platinum.’

It was a great thing, especially considering that games in the Platinum and lower tiers are especially difficult when raising a smurf account.

Like any tier, the Silver and Gold tier sections, in particular, were a place where users of all sorts of groups were mixed together, to the point where it's jokingly called the free channel.

Smurf accounts, boosting, trolling, etc…….

If possible, it was best to either quickly pass through there, or not go there at all.

The placement exam continued.

[Outlaw]

Solo Rank

- Unranked

- 7 Wins 0 Loss

- Win Rate 100%

+

The record is now 7 wins and 0 losses.

The temporary tier became Platinum 3 with 12 points.

Of course, this is also because I have learned to some extent how to win in the hellish section of normal games.

In short, in the relatively lower tier sections, scaling champions like Elise are much more efficient for winning than snowballing champions.

Even if the results of winning are the same, the difficulty of the process to get there is different.

And among them, if there was a champion that I especially enjoyed, it was also ‘that champion’.

[Master Yi]

From a jungler's perspective, Master Yi is a charming champion, and at the same time, a difficult champion to deal with.

As befits a champion who is normally called a "bug", he shows a suitable appearance, but if the combination falters or if Master Yi grows for some reason in the game, he instantly transforms into a killing machine.

Champions like Ryze or Karthus are similar… In the case of Master Yi, he can be considered much more extreme than the two previous champions.

Although the risk is incomparable to the previous two champions, its destructive power is worthy of being called a king-type champion under various conditions.

‘There are many reasons... but the biggest reason is that it's fun.’

Since Master Yi eventually reaches a point where his usage is gradually limited when he goes over a certain tier, I picked Master Yi with the intention of enjoying it until I could enjoy it.

-You have slain an enemy!

-God of the Battlefield!

I slaughtered the enemies, feeling the same emotions as when I first played Legend of League in the distant past.

*

8 wins, 0 losses.

The tier is Platinum 2.

I wanted to finish the placements on the first day, but I thought that taking care of my body was also a skill, so I stopped.

I threw myself onto the bed and slightly checked the community on my smartphone, but of course, there was no mention of Outlaw.

‘Yeah.’

No matter how high my win rate is, it's just a normal account that hasn't even finished the placements yet.

It would be strange if it was mentioned.

‘I thought someone might recognize me... it was just a worry.’

I felt relieved, but at the same time, I felt something sad, a very strange feeling.

Is this why they say a woman's heart is like the reed?

“…What.”

I had a strange feeling of gradually learning something that I shouldn't have known.

As I stared blankly at the community, I could see that the mention of Prisoner had decreased noticeably recently.

‘Oh, now that I think about it….’

There was only one event that could have reduced the mention of Prisoner, who had dominated the community for the past few months.

-Legend of League Champions Korea, Spring Season begins on the 15th.

-The first match of the opening ceremony is a big match from the start: SY vs SCV.

The season has begun.
