The Sacred Manager Life - Chapter 67
“Unnie!! Oh no, this is bad!”
“What’s the big deal? Why are you making such a fuss?”
Ryu Yeoreum, who had sneaked out of her room, called Cha Soyeon.
“I think Ayoung unnie has a crush on Manager-nim.”
“Ayoung does?”
“Yes, I’m sure of it.”
“Tell me in detail.”
Yeoreum recounted everything that had happened the previous night without missing a single detail.
How Min Ayoung and Shin Juwon had met a god,
How Ayoung had been suffering from an eye condition for two years,
How Juwon had healed her eyes,
How Ayoung had fallen hard for him because of it,
And, as a bonus, she also mentioned encountering Leviathan in the ocean.
“Just like you said, Unnie, Manager-nim has incredible abilities. He even commands a pet raised by God-nim, and flames shot from his hands to heal Ayoung unnie’s eyes. It was so cool!”
“Seems like a lot of fun stuff happened while I was gone. Maybe I should’ve asked Producer Shin to let me join as a guest.”
“Why would you go on a show where only washed-up people appear?”
“My last movie didn’t even hit 5 million. By my standards, that’s a flop.”
Yeoreum thought that was incredibly tactless but kept it to herself.
After all, she and Soyeon were in the same boat when it came to trying to win over Shin Juwon.
“At dinner, she stuck right next to him and even fed him like they were newlyweds. She’s definitely smitten.”
“Isn’t it just gratitude for giving her back her sight after two years? She never showed any interest in men before.”
“You didn’t see the look in her eyes, Unnie. It was practically dripping with honey!”
“Are you coming back tomorrow?”
“Yes.”
“When you get back, I’ll call Ayoung over to her place. You come too.”
“Okay, Unnie.”
Cha Soyeon and Ryu Yeoreum decided to test the fox’s courage in approaching Shin Juwon.
As I walked back to my room along the path, the wind felt unusually strong.
"They say a typhoon’s coming tomorrow. The one heading for Japan suddenly changed course."
The cameraman’s words came to mind.
[It’s wind carrying the energy of a typhoon.]
‘That’s a thing?’
[Just like living beings, all natural phenomena have energy. They’re also creations made by God-nim.]
As the cameraman worried, the boats might not be able to sail.
According to the news, it’s a super typhoon, the first of its kind in years.
Since it’s passing through, we might be stuck here for a day or two.
‘Didn’t He calm the storm on the Sea of Galilee? Can’t we do something this time too?’
[It’s possible, but you’d have to get close to the typhoon. Even the Son of God calmed the storm from right in the middle of it. Want to try?]
‘Isn’t that dangerous?’
[You have me and the Blessing of the Signpost. What’s there to worry about? It’ll just be a bit of a hassle.]
‘Then help me out. I want to go back tomorrow.’
I don’t want to waste a day or two stuck on the island with nothing to do.
Producer Shin and the staff probably don’t have a relaxed schedule either.
[The Blessing of the Signpost will show you the typhoon’s path. I’ll act as your alarm clock, so wake up when I call you.]
‘Okay.’
I spotted Levi lazily waving its tentacles amid the rolling waves.
‘Can’t we just ask it for help?’
It was the dragon that once ruled the sea, after all.
[That one’s the type to stir up storms, not calm them.]
Ah.
[Master, wake up.]
The spirit woke me up.
The clock showed it was just past 6 a.m.
[Head to the dock. The Blessing of the Signpost will react.]
I changed clothes and stepped out onto the porch.
‘Wow, what kind of weather is this?’
The wind was no joke.
With every howling gust, the rain shifted direction wildly.
As I was about to step into the yard, the door across from me creaked open slightly.
“Manager-nim….”
It was Yeoreum.
“Why are you up?”
“Well, the wind kept making the door rattle, and I’m… kind of sensitive to that noise.”
The commotion outside must’ve woken her.
“What are you doing up at this hour, Manager-nim? Where are you going?”
I considered making up an excuse but decided against it.
Yeoreum already knew about the blessings, so there was no need to hide.
“I’m going to the dock. If the typhoon hits, the boats won’t be able to come.”
Yeoreum’s eyes widened at my words.
“Are you… going to calm the typhoon…?”
“Well, yeah.”
I gave an awkward smile, and she immediately dashed over and grabbed my hand.
“Wow, wow, that’s so cool! Can I come too? No, you have to show me!”
Her sparkling eyes made it impossible to refuse.
‘Is it okay to bring Yeoreum along?’
[One more person is fine.]
‘Ride?’
[You’ll see when we get to the dock. We don’t have time.]
I hurried to the dock with Yeoreum in tow.
The howling wind must’ve scared her because she clung tightly to my arm.
‘I don’t see the guiding line. Did the Blessing of the Signpost react?’
When the Blessing of the Signpost reacts, a navigation-like guiding line appears.
[Wait a moment.]
A bubbling sound rose from the sea in front of the dock.
The entire dock shook, and a massive whirlpool formed where the bubbles had been.
“M-Manager-nim… I’m scared….”
Yeoreum gripped my arm even tighter.
Like water draining from a sink, the whirlpool deepened until something suddenly rose from its center.
“Whoaaa!!”
“Eeeek!”
It was an enormous ship.
‘Wh-what is that?!’
[It’s the ark. I borrowed it from Noah for a bit.]
It was the legendary ship that, by God’s command, had carried pairs of every living creature through the Great Flood until the world was cleansed.
[It endured 40 days of relentless rain and 150 days of the entire world submerged in water. It can handle getting close to a typhoon just fine.]
So, we’re supposed to ride this to the typhoon.
“M-Manager-nim. What is this?”
“It’s the ark. The big ship the prophet Noah rode during the Great Flood.”
“Huh?”
“We’re going to ride this to where the typhoon is. We have to get close to calm it. Look up Noah’s Ark later if you’re curious.”
“I know that much.”
She pouted as she spoke.
On one side of the ark was a ladder leading up.
To reach it, we’d have to walk on water.
“See that ladder over there?”
“Yes.”
“We’re going up to the deck using that.”
“How do we get there? There’s no boat here.”
“We’ll walk.”
“Huh?”
This time, she looked utterly baffled.
“From now on, we’ll walk on water. If you trust me, you can walk with me. But if you doubt, you’ll sink straight into the water.”
When I said that, Cha Soyeon had walked on water without any issue.
“So? Can you trust me?”
Yeoreum, who had been staring blankly, suddenly turned serious.
“I’ll trust you. No, I do trust you. How could I not trust the man who’s going to be mine? Let me walk on water already!”
Taking her hand as she subtly staked her claim, we began walking on the water.
One step… two steps… three steps…
It didn’t take many steps for Yeoreum’s expression to transform into pure joy.
“Wow, wow! Manager-nim, this… I’m walking! I’m walking on water!”
Her reaction wasn’t much different from Cha Soyeon’s.
Once we climbed onto the deck, a guiding line appeared on the sea.
The ark let out a heavy groan as it began moving forward along the line.
It felt like playing an incredibly realistic VR game.
“This… is the blessing He gave you?”
“Yeah. It gives me what I need for the situation. Since we’re at sea, a ship appeared.”
“Hehe, being next to you means I get to experience things like this.”
Now that she felt safe, she looked around in amazement.
[Tell her not to go below deck. There are creatures there she’s never seen before. She’d be shocked.]
When I warned Yeoreum, she scurried over and latched onto my arm again.
Then she giggled.
“You’ll protect me, right? I’ll stick close to you.”
Though she was the most mature among the members, she’d turned into a small, adorable creature.
When I patted her head, she purred like a kitten.
About 30 minutes passed.
The wind blew so fiercely it was hard to see ahead.
We must’ve gotten close to the typhoon.
“M-Manager-nim….”
“Hold on tight. It’ll be over soon.”
Even I was struggling to stay upright as the wind battered us from all sides.
‘Are we there yet?’
[Almost.]
A short while later, the ark stopped.
We must’ve reached the spot where we could calm the typhoon.
‘We’re here, right? What now?’
[Rebuke it.]
‘What?’
What kind of nonsense is this?
Rebuke it? Who?
[The disciples on the boat cried out to the Son of God in fear. They were about to die in the storm. So He rebuked the storm. Told it to be quiet. Do the same.]
Seriously, getting mad at a typhoon?
But the spirit had never lied to me before.
If the spirit says so, it must be true.
I raised my head and shouted toward the raging wind.
Putting every ounce of strength into it.
“Hey, you!! Shut up, I’m dying here! Just, be quiet!!”
Beside me, Yeoreum made a face that defied textual description.
Don’t look at me like that—I know it’s weird.
But the effect was undeniable.
The violently howling wind gradually died down.
A few minutes later, the sea became eerily calm, as if it had all been a lie.
“Wh-what… just….”
It was a sight hard to believe even after seeing it.
All it took was a shout, and the typhoon fled in terror.
The clouds parted, revealing a vibrant rainbow.
[God-nim showed that to Noah as a sign of His promise never to destroy the world with water again.]
‘Why show it now?’
[Just for fun. God-nim likes a good performance.]
What a whimsical God.
